"I had Tristan come out to do some mulching around my newly planted trees and bushes and it turned out so good! He was in and out in a very timely manner and did very good work! He had even spent some extra time discussing some ideas for some other projects id like to get done. Very happy with the results and will definitely have them out again!!"

"Scott was very professional and detailed oriented. He and his team did a great job installing concrete driveway and stamped walkway and we are extremely pleased with the results. His pricing was very competitive and we highly recommend Custom Concrete & Hardscapes."

"My rock border was full of dirt and weeds. The guys took out the stones, cleaned them off on the driveway, put down new weed guard, then replaced the stones and added more to fill in. It looks like new! They also sawed down a couple of stumps and worked around my existing plants. Pleased with how it turned out!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

A window flower box should be deep enough that there’s room for a wide selection of plants and the required amount of soil and gravel. Standard flower boxes are 8 inches deep and 8 inches from front to back. Larger is better to increase the variety of plants in the box, but you could run into stability issues as it increases in weight.

Multiple rules of thumb exist when discussing tree planting. When planting a tree, the best rule of thumb is to provide it with everything it needs to survive and thrive in its new environment. That may mean learning about the type of tree you're planting and studying the best methods of taking care of it before purchasing and planting.

The best landscaping for a septic drain field is shallow-rooted grass or native vegetation that helps prevent soil erosion while allowing water to evaporate efficiently. Avoid planting trees, shrubs, or deep-rooted plants near the drain field because the roots can infiltrate pipes and cause blockages. Using mulch or gravel sparingly can also help retain moisture and protect the system without restricting airflow.

Palm trees are relatively easy to grow, especially when planting different varieties in their native habitats. While regular watering is crucial in the first couple of months while the palm develops a strong root ball, palms typically require minimal maintenance once they’re established. You’ll need to prune palm fronds once or twice per year to keep it in tip-top shape.

If you don’t like the way your empty drainage ditch looks, reach out to a local landscaping professional to discuss your options. They may be able to liven it up with plants, stones, bushes, or other decorative elements. You can also add your own landscaping, but you should first make sure that it won’t block your ditch or prevent it from operating effectively.
