I have been doing professional installation of most types of flooring since 1990. I was trained as an apprentice in Germany after serving in the Army and continued in the trade after my return to the United States. I enjoy working with my customers from the beginning of the project to the end. I have years of experience and can help with any questions you have regarding various types of flooring. I accept cash or check payment upon completion. References and photos are available.

"John was extremely responsive (via email, easiest for me) and offered to do an in-home consultation about the work we needed done within 24 hours of the initial request for an estimate. That evening, John had provided an estimate, which was extremely competitive with the other estimates we had obtained from other contractors. John offered to help us shop for flooring and even offered a discount at a specific store, if we chose to shop there. The work was scheduled within 2 weeks (!) and 3 days later, our first floor looks entirely new - just what we were hoping for. Great work, reliable and trustworthy contractor. Would (and likely will) hire again!"

Showroom located at 2421 S Stoughton Rd on the east frontage road just north of Pflaum Road, next to Wendy's Open Monday through Saturday Experienced Sales and Installation Staff

"They are fast at giving estimate, they have good installers, they answer the phone and show up when they say they will. Price was on the high side, they even lowered it somewhat to match another bid we had (also high, but we were looking for something specific) . . . I would use them again but would probably do some comparison shopping first before going with them"

"My elderly neighbor called in a panic because her handy man walked off the job and left her hanging with her floor project. I sent a request thru Angie's List on her behalf and she received a phone call later the same day. Jeremiah showed up the next day and completed the project to her satisfaction. I got a thank you call from my neighbor saying that "....(Jeremiah) did a beautiful job on my kitchen, dining and bathroom floor." "Thank you for putting me in touch with (Walgenmeyer's) as it looks really really nice and I'm really really happy.""

CarpetsPlus of Wisconsin is a family-owned and operated business dedicated to providing the right floorcovering at the right price to all of our friends and neighbors. The company operates four stores: two in Madison, one in Janesville and one in Plover. Ray and Michael Peters started the family business as Madison Carpetland USA in 1971. We had faith in the idea that, if we provided only quality products and treated our customers fairly at all times, we’d be able to provide a service to the community and support our family in the process. That’s proven to be true over the years, and the family remains an active part of the business today. Locally owned & family operated. Cost is determined by the job.

"Paul was an excellent salesperson who quickly connected me to the perfect carpet for my house! Easy and no pressure sales. His installation crew was top notch, as well."

"Initially, I was very pleased with salesperson and quotes that I got from Nonn's. My contractor had worked them before, so I trusted his opinion. I know after this job, his opinion has changed. I know he cancelled a job with them to tile after he saw their work at my house. Long story short--errors in ordering, errors in tiling, errors in fixing said issues (don't send the same incompetent people out to fix what they couldn't do properly the first time). The "fixer" just left, looks better but not even close to as good as it should. So if you want to be a month behind on your project and have a shower that is new but looks 10 years old, go with Nonns otherwise, look elsewhere and spend more."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpets in earthy, neutral shades should go with everything. Specifically, colors like beige, cream, and gray pair well with other neutrals and more vibrant colors. If you’re concerned about your carpet clashing with your walls or furniture, stay away from loud colors and complicated patterns, which could distract from the rest of your decor.

If the stairs are already covered in carpet, you will need to remove the old carpet and possibly the carpet pad. Any damage to the stairs like cracks, loose boards, or creaky treads may also need to be repaired. You may also want to sand and refinish or paint wood stairs before installing a carpet runner.

Yes, carpeted stairs are safer because carpet helps reduce the chances of slips and falls compared to harder materials like wood, vinyl, tile, or steel staircases, which lack the friction needed for a secure tread. And, if you do happen to fall, carpeted stairs also have more cushioning in the case of an accident.

Carpet is an effective natural insulator, so it will make a room slightly warmer than laminate. The material’s insulating properties also make carpeted rooms more efficient for temperature regulation.

No, it isn’t less expensive to install carpet compared to vinyl floors. The cost of installing carpet can range between $3 and $11 per square foot, so it falls just over the cost of installing vinyl flooring, at an average of $3 to $7 per square foot. High-quality carpeting can also range much higher, even up to $20 per square foot.
