  • Hammertorch Contracting
This was the best experience I have ever had with a contractor. Jason gave a very fair estimate and scheduled the project on time. He arrived everyday on time and completed the project on time. He is a very skilled carpenter and installed the fence beyond my expectations. He was precise with measurements and exact in the installation including all the screws perfectly aligned. His positive demeanor made the project a real pleasure. I highly recommend Jason and would hire him again with no question. If you need a reliable and skilled craftsman, call Jason he will not disappoint. AAAAA+++++

  • All Trades Javier Services
Needed replacement cedar fence between a neighbor and me. Javier's cousin, Jaime - and his crew, did a great job! They took special care around our rose garden. Their work was professional and cheerful. Their final price matched their quote - no surprises. I also asked if they had time to replace boards only on a side fence. They did the extra work in half a day - and at a reasonable price. The finished product is very nice! Highly recommended

  • Rick's Custom Fencing and Decking - Gresham
Work was performed by Marshall B. and Bo J. They and Bruce arrived bright and early for a walk-through to make sure we and they understood exactly what was to be done and how long it would take. They were very personable, hardworking, efficient and professional. They were eager to please and courteously responsive to a couple of extra requests we made during the construction. They did a beautiful job and we are generally quite pleased with the final product although there are some issues with the gate (nothing to do with quality of workmanship) that we would like to discuss with Bruce. We enjoyed our interactions with the crew. We are 40 year customers of Ricks and have always found their employees to be knowledgeable and easy to work with

  • Hashtag Contracting
Hashtag has provided services for us on several projects mentioned above. They are fantastic to work with. The company business model centers around old fashioned integrity, hard work, customer relationship building and being a collaborative contractor for their customer. We experienced timely, professional and friendly service and engagements with the husband and wife team. They were communicative throughout the process of removing an old out building that made us want to hire them to come back and install a perimeter fence for the house and yard, as well as some remodeling and upgrades on our deck. They listened carefully to our thoughts and ideas and then did everything in their power to make the vision happen. In our case, their translation of our vision ended up being better than we had hoped. Our porch remodel and the perimeter fencing has been a life saver for late night doggy potty breaks and we don't have to worry about the dogs running off in the middle of the night. The quality of materials and build plans were to our satisfaction and while cost of materials is high in this day and age, the hard work and dedication of the labor provided was on point and fair. We highly recommend Hashtag Contracting and will continue to use their company for any needs they can assist with

Fencing FAQ

  1. How much does it cost to install a fence?

Answer: The average cost to install a fence is $2,600. A variety of factors will impact the overall cost of fencing installation, such as the length of the fence, the materials you choose, and local labor costs. Fencing projects using the lowest cost materials and with lower labor costs can cost as little as $1 to $6 per linear foot, while projects using the highest cost materials and with higher labor costs may be as high as $15 to $45.

  2. Do I need a permit to build a fence around a yard?

Answer: Whether you’ll need a permit to build a fence around your yard will depend on your city or county's local codes. Many metropolitan and suburban areas require a permit to install most fencing, but they may not for fences situated behind a house as opposed to in front of it or fences that don’t run within a certain distance of the road. To find out if you’ll need a permit to fence your yard, reach out directly to your local government office.

  3. What is the cheapest fence to install?

Answer: The cheapest fencing to install is chain-link fencing. Chain-link fencing is typically cheaper than other fence types because the materials cost less, and installation is generally quicker and easier than other options. Chain-link fencing is affordable, easy to install, and low maintenance. However, it’s usually considered less secure than other options and doesn’t increase resale value as much as fences made of different materials.

  4. Is a wood or vinyl fence cheaper?

Answer: Wood fences are generally cheaper than the cost of vinyl fences. While the cost of materials for wood and vinyl fences is usually very similar, the labor cost associated with installing a vinyl fence is higher. Wood fencing is also easier to install than vinyl fencing, making it possible to save money by making wood fence installation a DIY project. It’s also possible to DIY install a vinyl fence.

  5. What is the life expectancy of a vinyl fence?

Answer: Vinyl fencing can be expected to last between 10 and 30 years. Vinyl fencing is generally low maintenance, but proper care will ensure it lasts as long as possible. Its long life span and high return on investment make vinyl fencing a popular option for many homeowners.

  6. What type of fence adds to the property value?

Answer: Installing quality fencing, no matter the fence type, will generally add value to your property. In general, fences made of longer-lasting, lower-maintenance, and more attractive materials—like wrought-iron, composite, or vinyl—add more value to a property than fences made of lower-cost or less attractive materials, like chain-link. To ensure your fencing adds as much value to your home as possible, be sure it’s properly permitted, approved by your homeowners association (if you have one), and installed properly.
