I appreciated the personal attention and professionalism while I was in my choosing stage and found my sales rep extremely responsive and helpful. The price was very reasonable and included everything--no hidden costs. I loved being able to choose my own slab and was involved and welcomed in every step along the way, including layout, cutting, finishing and installation. I had one little tinge of trouble, which was resolved in my favor, regarding a free promotional sink. (This is why they're getting a 'B' rather than 'A' from me.) The link I was sent by Tops staff described the free promotional sink as 16 or 18 gauge stainless, and I asked specifically about the 16 gauge, which is thicker stainless and considered higher quality than 18 gauge, and was told by my sales rep that I could indeed get the 16 gauge sink for free. I signed the contract, and was told later that it included the 18 gauge sink and that the 16 gauge would cost an additional $350. I challenged this with documentation, and was provided the 16 gauge sink at no additional cost. I appreciate this resolution, but I was treated differently after this occurred, and I never again saw or spoke to my original sales person. Overall the installation was done very carefully and professionally, and my countertops--and sink--are gorgeous. I would definitely recommend Tops Solid Surface, and my advice goes for any vendor you choose: be careful to understand absolutely everything--and request that every verbal promise is specified, in detail, in the contract--before you sign."

There are several tools that you will use together to install tiles. Four of the most basic tools needed in tile installation include a notched trowel for applying tile adhesive, a tile cutter or saw for cutting tiles to size, tile spacers for creating the appropriate amount of space between tiles, and a grout float for applying grout.
There isn’t a one-size-fits-all best tile for a dog shower. Consider your budget, tile durability, aesthetics, and, most importantly, practicality. Avoid tiles your dog will slide around on. Pebbles are a great non-slip option, but are pricey and tricky to install. Glass might look modern, but it’s not scratch-resistant. Small, floor-rated ceramic or porcelain tiles are economical and have many grout lines that make the surface more slip-resistant. Pick a matte finish rather than a shiny tile if you want it to hide stray mud and hairs better.
If the hearth ends against a wall, you can use a tile cutter as you normally would. However, if the edge of your hearth ends with no surface pressing against it,you may want to look into rounded tiles. These give a smooth edge to your hearth and make sure cut edges aren’t visible. You can also see if the tile you have has pieces that have been glazed or rounded on one edge. You’d then cut the tile and place it normally, with the cut edge facing inward.
Quartz is more durable than granite, so it should last longer. However, it does have one weakness: It can be damaged by extreme heat, so exercise caution with cooking pans. Granite is durable, but it’s also porous, which invites stains when liquids are left sitting on a countertop. With this in mind, clean up spills promptly and reseal the countertops every year. Beyond that, granite can be damaged by a high-impact blow.
To ensure an even and unbending surface to lay tiles on, you’ll typically need to put a subfloor under a tile floor. Fiber cement backboards are the most common choice, but using plywood is also possible. Don’t neglect this step, or you could risk water damage and grout or tiles prematurely cracking or crumbling, especially in an area with high foot traffic.
