At Toolbox Dispatch, we understand the importance of a well-maintained home or workplace, and we are here to ensure that every project, big or small, is completed to your utmost satisfaction. Whether it’s a repair, installation, minor renovation, or general maintenance task, you can trust our experienced team to handle it with expertise and efficiency.

"The refurbishing of a master bathroom has been a nightmare. The project was rather simple: remove and replace fiberglass shower/tub enclosure, remove sheetrock and re-install new sheetrock, remove existing vanity sink and replace, install shower faucet and shower head, vanity faucet. They provided an estimate of 8 days to complete the job. It has taken many weeks and not even done adequately. It is so bad that I have to hire another contractor to pull out the shower walls and re-install new ones. They ruined it with their sloppy installation and not following instructions. When they apparently tried to fix it – it just looked worse and worse. Their plumbing sub-contractor made a big blunder and did not seal the pipe for the new tub faucet. This caused water to come through the ceiling onto the first floor and they had to replace a bunch of sheetrock in the kitchen. They removed all the towel bars in the bathroom for the new sheet rock but somehow managed to lose one…and came up with a BS story that there was only one in there. That didn’t fly so the story changed to that it had to be destroyed when the sheetrock was removed. Another BS story as we were in the house when this happened and would have seen it being carried out. The mudding of the bathroom was sloppy, see photo of the light switch. The caulking is even worse – much of it is missing or just very poorly applied. That all had to be removed and re-done. There are too many other issues to list but we’ll be spending another $4,400 to fix the mess they left. I urge you to learn from our encounter and avoid them – it was NOT a professional job, the staff were mostly untruthful and often rude."

"I got recommended to him by a friend of mine. They said he did great work, but that had been years before he gave me great prices and then when he actually started doing the work, he started up charging me for anything he could and doing change orders and try to get the bid up 9000 more dollars then original and said that I had asked for the changes we reviewed the bid many times. It was not changed from the original. He was just trying to make more money. He showed up at the job drunk every day. I put a camera in the house to review him and he was drinking on the job and his employees and him were talking crap about me while on the job. he would tell me he?s at the job for eight hours. I would take pictures before he showed up and after it looks like he did no work while in the bathroom. Is a simple small bathroom remodel that has now turned into four months and I had to fire him. If you hire him pay attention to him, smelling like alcohol"

"Opportunity Construction will always be my #1 company to go to for my fencing needs. Here's the reason why. First, from start to finish, Dean Currow was very knowledgeable about installation of fencing. He displayed great customer service, professionalism, attention to details, and was so easy to work with. He was prompt; arriving on time each day. Second, his team of workers were exceptional! They were the best; working hard...non stop, until the last steel panel was in place. Opportunity Construction made my dream come true. They are an A++++ company. Last, I couldn't be happier with the installation. The fence looks beautiful, and from all of the drive-bys, I am sure this company will be receiving a few more calls."

Repair Carport questions, answered by experts

Yes, joists are considered structural, as they support the flooring or roofing above them and help distribute the load to the beams, which, in turn, distribute that load to weight-bearing walls or foundational supports directly below them. Joists not only help distribute the load evenly to your beams, but they also provide direct support to the subfloor in flooring systems, which helps reduce creaking and the risk of uneven flooring.

There are approximately 5.33 board feet in a 2x4. You can use the board foot calculator in this article to easily find the answer. A 2x4 is 2 inches of thickness by 4 inches of width, so you need to find the length, with 8 feet being the most common. You’d use the calculator here to multiply 2 times 4 times 8, and then divide by 12, arriving at a total of 5.33 board feet.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.

The best way to know if your beams still provide adequate support is to consult a structural engineer. Structural beams can crack and even sag over time but may still be structurally sound. Keep an eye out for signs of issues in your home, such as sagging floors or ceilings, major cracks in your ceiling and walls, or signs of water damage around a weight-bearing wall.

Yes, columns can be used to replace a load-bearing wall. However, you will need to use a support beam as well. Using columns can be a great way to provide additional support for large areas and improve your home's aesthetics.
