Customers say: Super punctual

"Jack and his crew are incredibly nice, knowledgeable, skilled, and easy to work with. They did a fantastic job, and were so respectful of our home! I hardly knew they were here half the time, they were so low-key. We had them do the baseboards and outer door frames on our living, dining, and hallway areas. We'd refinished the wood floors over the summer, and hadn't gotten around to painting and installing the new trim, and finally just realized we didn't want to do it ourselves, and hired it out. They completed the work yesterday, which was well in line with our agreements, and it turned out beautifully! I just walked down the hall, and said internally, "Wow, this looks so great." ? My partner said the same thing when he got home and inspected it. We're both impressed and pleased with it, and Isaac's attention to detail, and willingness to be super diligent for me, were highly valuable! We are already planning to hire them again, to do the trim in the kitchen, and replace a window in the garage that is broken. I highly recommend Jack, Isaac, and Josh."

Customers say: True professional

"Cody was very personable, listened to what we wanted and basically built custom porch railings and grab rail just the way we wanted. He was in and out in a single day, even with my "Supervising". We're going to have him build grab rails for our indoor stairs, as well!"

"Dean and his crew did a great job, showing up on time and staying on schedule. The work included replacing a window with an exterior door, drywall, trim, new wall with interior door, relocating sockets, etc on my 1950’s two-story home in Northeast Seattle. I will hire them to do additional work."

"My wife and I live in a beautiful farmhouse built in 1902 complete with a barn converted to a shop. I wanted to build a 20x30 covered equipment storage area where I could keep my tractor, riding mower, trailer, etc. in order to free up space in my shop. I have built structures in the past and felt confident that I could design and build what I needed. I knew I definitely wanted a wood structure that would aesthetically blend in with the rustic vibe of the property. A metal carport was definitely out. I also wanted to do it above board and get the proper permits as I didn't want the County to come back on me later. That is where the problems began. Long story short, try as may I could not figure out how to navigate the complex permit process. I became frustrated and decided to put the project on hold. Shortly thereafter we were at a local car show and walked by an Abel Construction booth where we met Savannah. She was the nicest person and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. At f"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

Technically, most states allow tiny homes, but it depends on the definition of tiny and whether the structure is permanent. Zoning laws regarding home size and construction are significant factors. For instance, a tiny home may be legal as a recreational vehicle in most areas, but you may only install it on a property if it complies with building and zoning codes.

Ranch and colonial-style homes are often the most affordable to build. They have a common layout with available designs that are easy to adjust in simple ways without having to spend too much on a structural engineer or architect. Both types of homes' symmetry, simple roofs, and often one or two-story plans mean they often fall in the $150 to $200 square-foot range, putting them right around average.

Trex is not stronger than wood, but it lasts longer than wood and is heavier. Trex holds up well to the elements and is resistant to termites thanks to its resilient composition of plastic, reclaimed wood, and sawdust. Trex decking is rot and warp-resistant, making it especially useful in areas that experience a lot of snow and rain.

Any type of construction that damages a tree’s roots via soil compaction can be dangerous, and is one of the primary causes of mature tree death in residential areas. Simply putting lots of weight on the ground around the tree, like construction supplies, trailers, and equipment, can kill roots near the surface. Of course, installing new foundations, patios, or utility lines can cut through nearby tree roots. Accidentally striking a tree with equipment or supplies is rarely a problem, but can cause damage of its own, too.

Prefab sheds can be worth it, depending on your needs and goals. If you want to build the shed yourself or have a quick project turnaround, then a prefab shed will likely be worth it. If you want something more customized, then starting from scratch may help you achieve your goals better than a prefab could.
