"They were able to replace the skylight in less than 2 weeks after the quote. They did a good job and make the finish on the inside look good. A few weeks later, there was a heavy rain and my new skylight is no longer leaking like my old one that was replaced."

"Yanai and team did a great job replacing 4 old deck-mounted skylights. Their bid was way lower than other bids we received, though I decided to go with them due to their roofing expertise and great reviews. They did an excellent job and the new skylights roof looks great."

"A large team arrived. Work started with safety issues addressed. Workers knew their jobs and were efficient without obstructing other workers. I was kept informed of issues and issues were repaired to my satisfaction. They removed my satellite dish to replace roof sheeting and when they reinstalled the dish I had a stronger signal than before they arrived. Cleanup was THOROUGH! A worker went over the entire yard with a large, powerful magnet to gather nails. Debris was collected and hauled off. My patio and driveway was cleaned with a blower. I highly recommend this company! The admin office was friendly and courteous."

"Prompt and punctual and polite. It was a small job, but Larry got right on it. I remember the eye rolling and condescension i received from another roofer a few years ago when i needed a small job done, They did the job but i never called them back. i called Larry instead. He already had good reviews on Angie's list and he fulfilled my expectations.

"We worked with Ali (sales manager) and Tony (project manager), who took the time to design a project that made sense for our property and our budget, made a number of suggestions and recommendations and were never pushy or tried to "sell" us on something. The crew really went above and beyond to provide top quality workmanship and overall we were in very good hands. Highly recommended!"

"Had to replace my 33-year-old roof with new shingles. I knew it wasn't going to be cheap been out of the market for a long time. Did a lot of research online ,state roofing had excellent grades and reviews. The salesperson came out the very next day very polite very knowledgeable. Had other bids that were a little bit cheaper but decided to go with state moving because of the reputation and longevity. Had a break in the weather a crew came out and took my old shingles off in one day they were here for about 12 hours did a good job. Two days later they delivered the shingles and two guys finished the job in two days, they were very efficient and friendly and answered all my questions. The cleanup was also excellent, wouldn't hesitate to recommend these guys to anyone, good job! And if I ever need a warranty service I know they will be there."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Skylights increase natural light, improve ventilation, and enhance aesthetic appeal in rooms.

Ceiling costs depend on many factors, such as the material used and size, but coffered ceilings are considered one of the more expensive ceiling options. If you want to install a coffered ceiling but have a limited budget, consider using plywood instead of hardwood—it costs $2–$4.50 per square foot, while hardwood can be as much as $20 per square foot.

A skylight's ability to withstand hail depends on factors like material quality and thickness. Impact-resistant options, such as tempered or laminated glass, fare better against hail compared to standard glass. Proper installation and regular maintenance also contribute to their resilience. While smaller hailstones may not pose a significant threat, larger ones can cause damage. Consider skylight protection methods like covers or screens in hail-prone areas to enhance durability and minimize potential harm.

In most cases, installing skylights will add value to your home, making them a worthwhile investment for many homeowners. Buyers are often attracted to the aesthetic appeal of skylights, as they make rooms feel brighter, airier, and more spacious by introducing natural light without compromising privacy. Beyond aesthetics, skylights can offer monetary benefits by potentially reducing energy bills. Additionally, models that can be opened provide extra ventilation, which is particularly useful in hotter climates for allowing accumulated hot air to escape from the ceiling. However, the return on investment depends on several factors. To maximize value, it's crucial that the skylights are installed by an experienced professional to avoid risks like water damage, which can deter savvy buyers. Regular maintenance and cleaning are also important. Furthermore, choosing the right frame and glazing materials for your specific climate will enhance their performance and appeal. While skylights are generally seen as an asset, homeowners should also consider the initial cost, which averages around $1,500 for installation.

When planning out skylights and deciding how big they should be, it's important to look at the dimensions of the interior space. In addition to changing a room aesthetically, skylights influence the illumination and temperature of the space below. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that a skylight’s size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows.
