*Note* This Roof Doctor is the Olympia location, PO Box 2257, Olympia, WA 98507. Ph. 360-352-1294 . I'm writing this into my review so there is no confusion with the other locations; there are several.
I signed the Acceptance of Proposal on 09/30/2014 and was told that it may be several weeks before the work was completed. I told the representative that was fine and that my only request was the work NOT be done while it was raining because I didn’t want anyone slipping and getting hurt while working on my roof.
The Roof Doctor called me 11/03/2014 and said my roof would be replaced on 11/05/2014. I asked if the 11/05/2014 forecast called for rain and was told there was a chance of rain expected in the late afternoon and the work that needed to be done would be completed by the afternoon.
On 11/05/2014, I went to work and came home at noon to check on my roof. When I walked out of my office, it was raining. There were puddles on the ground so it had rained enough for water to accumulate. I walked to my vehicle and called the Roof Doctor. The Roof Doctor representative told me that it wasn’t raining hard enough for me to get wet. I informed him that I had just walked to my vehicle in the rain and I was indeed wet. He then acknowledged that it was now raining hard enough for me to get wet but I had nothing to worry about because he’d been out to my house a couple of times that morning and everything was fine. I drove home and asked the roofers if they’d been working in the rain long. One of the roofers said it had been raining off and on all morning (which I verified on the Weather Channel website).
I realize it’s difficult to find a day in which it doesn’t rain in the Pacific Northwest but I wasn’t pressuring the Roof Doctor to complete the work and the forecast for 11/07/2014 (2 days after my roof was replaced) was 0% chance of rain. I had already waited 36 days since I signed the Acceptance of Proposal and I would have gladly waited another 2 days. (I would have gladly waited another 30 days for that matter because I didn't want my roof replaced when it was raining.) The Roof Doctor could have respected my request to replace my roof when it wasn’t raining by simply waiting 2 more days. Instead, they disregarded my one and only request, tried to tell me it wasn’t raining hard enough for me to get wet, when in fact it was raining hard enough for me to get wet, and it had been raining off and on all morning.
I emailed the Roof Doctor on 11/06/2014 and notified them that performing work on my roof in the rain, after I said I didn’t want it done in the rain, tells me my preference for the way work is completed on my house is irrelevant to them. I also informed the Roof Doctor that had I known they considered my preference about the way work is completed on my home irrelevant, I wouldn’t have committed to paying over $7000.00 for them to replace my roof. The Roof Doctor didn’t respond which confirmed they don’t care about the way I’d like work completed on my house.
If you have an interest in the way work is performed on your home, I recommend paying an additional $200.00 and selecting a different roof company.
Fantastic job, crew and service. The owners were responsive and prompt with the bid process as well as scheduling the job and completing it. The bid was fair and very competitive, and their reputation was the deciding factor for us. They offered 4 years 0% financing something their competition was not able to do.
Re-roof of steep sloped lake house, including removing 2 old skylights, replacing some damaged sheething around the chimney and then re-roofing the entire thing and the giant attached carport.
Crew was on time, worked hard to get it done and cleaned up 100% of any construction debris, you'd never know they'd been here except there is a brand new roof.
All went well. I would recommend Roof Doctor to family/friends.
They did a great job. I would use them again. I recommend them to others.
We were happy with the company and the service. The roof looks good and doesn't leak. Following a few rain/wind events everything is good. The original bid was under $10,000. With redoing sections of sheeting, and replacing a custom skylight, total cost was $12,000.
The crew was punctual, worked quickly. Got the job done in 1.5 days. Their clean up was thorough. We did have to wait about 2 weeks for the custom skylight to be ready (a delay caused by that company), but the crew put in on as soon as it became available.
They cleaned up the debris to my satisfaction, just missing a few pieces of tar paper.
They removed some plywood to look at the structure supporting a gable as we had agreed on at the time of the estimate.
The crew stopped dropping the shingles onto the roof after I told them my pictures were shifting on the walls and I was worried that the pictures might be knocked free.
So far the roof is shedding rain.
They subcontracted to replace my front gutters which are now draining properly.
They made a follow up visit to be sure that all was done to my satisfaction.
So far so good, a roof needs some time to be sure it is functioning properly.
However, a few weeks later I received an invoice just for moss prevention. I thought that I should have been billed for gutter cleaning as well. I called Roof Doctor billing person, and she told me that I did not tell them that I wanted to have gutters cleaning as well. I had a copy of my job request which clearly stated that I wanted gutter cleaning as well. A couple hours later, I received a call from the same person telling me that yes, the gutters were cleaned. She also told that she would bill me for the gutter cleaning.
So I asked her if I could get some sort of discount for being honest by asking why I wasn't charged for gutter cleaning, and she said no. I thought, OK, that's not good. If I run a business, i would definitely reward my customer with a discount (or future discount) if he/she is being honest.
A few months later, one of my gutters drain was clogged, and I had to clear it out myself. This actually made me question whether Roof Doctor actually cleaned my gutters or not.
