Small jobs welcome

"All services performed in an exemplary and timely manner. Appropriate and seasoned subcontractors were contacted, hired, and completed their tasks as assigned by Chris of Nonstop Construction. We were so pleased we hired this organization again for construction of a new barn, dirt and concrete work and have additional future projects planned for Nonstop Construction."

"Matt is a sharp contractor.  He is very easy to work with and provides excellent ideas on how to accomplish what we want.  His crew is very professional and hardworking.  I liked his idea of replacing an old wooden deck with low maintenance composites and aluminum.  Matt was able to use much of the foundation of the old decks to reduce costs.  However, he took pains to make sure that the foundation was re-leveled.  Well pleased with the results and his follow up to make sure that we knew how to properly remove some pine tar from the new deck.  He also came up with an innovative way to provide a rain shield for my wife to be able to barbecue during the frequent rain here in the Northwest.  Everything that Matt did was first rate.  My neighbor was motivated to put in a fence as a result of my new fence.  The neighbor was more interested in the cheapest price vice the best work and already it shows!  Matt used stainless steel nails and better quality wood.  Next door their nails are already rusting and the wood looks cheap.  Matt always kept us into the loop and cared about what we wanted.

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Properties in Port Townsend with steep slopes, bluff edges, or natural ravines often require specialized installation methods and careful planning. Historic homes may need period-appropriate fencing that aligns with district guidelines. Exposure to marine air, mature trees, and proximity to wetlands can further complicate design and material selection. Additionally, underground utilities, shared driveways, and neighborhood easements can impact fence placement and increase project complexity.

Helpful?

In Port Townsend, signs that fencing may need replacement include rusted hardware from salty air, wood rot at ground level due to frequent rain, or leaning panels after storms. Shifting posts from freeze-thaw cycles, uneven fence lines, or visible gaps beneath the fence also suggest issues. If your fence doesn’t meet historic district requirements or encroaches on boundaries, a professional assessment is recommended.

Helpful?

For fencing projects in Port Townsend, knowing your property’s proximity to Puget Sound, slope, and soil type is essential. Details such as historic district status, neighborhood fencing styles, and the presence of mature trees or underground lines help guide material and design choices. Understanding local zoning, HOA guidelines, and your primary goals—like privacy, security, or pet containment—ensures your fence fits both your needs and the Port Townsend environment.

Helpful?

The duration of a fencing project in Port Townsend depends on several factors, including local weather, soil conditions, and project complexity. Persistent rain or coastal winds can delay work, especially when concrete footings need to cure. Challenging terrain, such as rocky or sloped lots, often requires extra time. Projects involving custom designs, historic district guidelines, or permits typically extend the timeline to ensure compliance and quality.

Helpful?

In Port Townsend, fencing contractors range from generalists who install wood, vinyl, and metal fences for homes and businesses to specialists focused on historic restoration for Victorian properties or marine-grade fencing for waterfront homes. Some contractors also offer integrated landscaping and fencing services, while others have expertise in agricultural or equestrian fencing, making them ideal for rural properties around Port Townsend’s unique terrain and climate.
