"I’ve worked with Chris several times and will continue to hire and work with him. He has a great eye for detail, knowledge and suggestions about products, and in-depth experience with construction and remediation. My next project is replacing the siding on my 83 year old house and Chris will be my first call."

"Mike was great and seemed very knowledgeable. My house and property was significantly damaged by flooding and it is a big job. I didn't get a bid for the full scope of work from Mike and ultimately decided on a contractor that gave me a bid for everything and knew personally. I looked at pictures of Mike's cabinet work and was impressed. It was a tough decision and work has not yet begun because I'm waiting on insurance. Mike was very kind which I appreciated during such a stressful time."

"Chris, and his tile and plumber subs, did an amazing job on the remodel of our two condo bathrooms and their estimate was very competitive too. As seniors, we have hired many contractors and Casali Remodeling is the best, by far! Their communication was excellent, and Chris was always involved in making sure things were going well. When we wanted minor changes, they were very accommodating, making the changes when possible or explaining why something couldn't or shouldn't be done."

"Leo and his workers were very professional in building a fence for us. They first dismantled the old tired fence the build a wonderful and creative one of a kind fence. He bid it right away and then sent me a copy via email. I was very happy with their work and the pace with which they did the job.. I will hire them for other projects around the place."

"Paul and his crew are fantastic. They show up when they say, work hard, pay attention to details, and helped us realize our ideas for updating the master bath. We are *VERY* pleased with the results. We are having them return next year to work on another bathroom!"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.

Costs depend on desk size, labor, included features like drawers or motorized height adjustments, and required wall anchoring.

When hanging a door frame, it’s recommended that you use screws, not nails. Screws are more secure, easier to tighten, and easier to remove if you need to adjust the frame. On average, the cost to replace a door frame is about $400, but you can save on labor costs if you’re confident in your ability to DIY the project.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.
