"I hired Eastside construction To Tape and texture 2 Hallways and a master bedroom, closet and bath. The taper Tom was personable but was the Sloppiest Taper I have ever been around. I have been in the trades since 1972. i requested that Tom scrape out the corners before shooting the texture at least three times, this was done half heartedly. I mentioned to Tom he was the sloppiest taper I had ever seen and asked who was going to clean up his mess. He replied Dean usually sends a crew around, but that was between me and Dean. There was no cleanup crew supplied by Dean. there are several areas that were not sanded properly and texture was shot anyway. I only saw these areas while I was painting. I would never hire this company again. The mess Tom Made and tracked through our house was inexcusable. My wife and I covered our floors, taped off the outlets, installed zipper doors to help keep the dust down. Tom belongs on a Commercial jobsite not an occupied home. I won't make this mistake again. While it is possible to paint over wallpaper, it’s not always ideal. If the wallpaper is firmly adhered, has no bubbling or peeling, and isn’t textured, you can try to prime and paint over it. Use an oil-based primer to prevent the adhesive from bleeding through. However, if the paper is damaged or loose, removal is the better long-term solution.

While you could conceivably select any paint finish, paintable wallpaper tends to look its best with a flat or eggshell finish. A higher gloss paint might make the texture pop more, but it can look a bit dated once the paint has dried. And don’t worry about whether a water-based latex paint will loosen the wallpaper. Paintable wallpaper has a coating that prevents this from happening, so using latex paints without applying an oil-based primer to seal things first is fine.

Wallpaper lasts an average of around 15 years, but there is some variance. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.

You can often fix an air bubble by cutting a tiny hole in the bubble with a very sharp knife, using a glue syringe to inject some adhesive behind the bubbled portion of paper, and then using a wallpaper smoothing tool to push the bubble back onto the wall's surface.

While peel-and-stick wallpapers require no time to cure, the adhesives for other types of papers will take a day or two to dry and up to three weeks to fully cure. The differences are the type of paper, the type of adhesive, and the humidity and temperature in the space.
