"I am sorry that it did not work out here. Sometimes it just can't. She has indicated the price was C. I don't agree. I work by the hour and I did not over charge. I did accomplish several steps in the billed time. She paid AFTER the work and we discussed it. I accomplished the work I was paid for. As to the quality, I did the work that could be done in the time she was willing to pay for. The area was cleaned up entirely, the scrap was removed, the fireplace was set up on a platform to be able to be used in the meantime. I am surprised when someone sets out to hurt a business on purpose, especially without calling the contractor (me) a single time to discuss the situation or come to an alternate agreement. And agreeing to the payment before finalizing the invoice on site. The customer is ALWAYS in charge of the checkbook on my jobs and only pays upon completion. The story of this project follows: Job description: Please remove and electric fireplace and install a new one. I got the right one according to the manufacturer, I should just unscrew and install where the old one was. I asked how would the manufacturer know that it would fit without seeing it? The scope of was much harder than originally expected and could not be accomplished without more aggressive cutting tools and a set up to prevent/shield steel dust from being thrown about the room. Regular hack saws etc would not work within the space. It was supposed to be take one electric fireplace out and install another in it's place. Well, the customer did not realize it but the first fireplace was installed behind 1 foot x 1 foot ceramic tile of the fireplace front and COULD NOT be removed, so cutting the old tapered wall one out with saws and a grinder was the only way. We discussed this at the time. This job was quite a bit more complicated than originally indicated. There was NOT sufficient time available to accomplish the amount of work required, Also, there was no guarantee that it would actually fit once the cutting was done because the cavity was hidden by the steel walls of the original fireplace. There was a bit of difficulty communicating the extent of the job, the hours required and thereby the cost of the job. The owner had a couple hours in mind at the beginning. That turned out to be not reasonable.."
