  To be honest we were dreading the thought of hiring a contractor to come and replace the beam supporting the upper deck in the back of our house. We had several companies recommended by Angie's List come out and bid on the job. We had initially gone with another contractor that had assured us he would be able to work this job into their schedule and have it completed in about a week. This was very appealing to us since we had waited so long the beam was pretty rotten. Needless to say a week turned into weeks and we were lucky to even get a phone call letting us know why they didn't show up when they were scheduled to start. Now they were giving us a new start date that was another week away. Lucky for us Patrick at A-1 had perfect timing and sent an e-mail just to make sure we were able to get our deck taken care of. After thinking about our experience so far we decided to switch to A-1 Builders. Great move!! Patrick was still able to get someone over to replace the beam by the original date he had given us! Shawn showed up on time, on the day they were scheduled to start. He was polite and took the time to walk me through everything that he would have going on for the next couple of days. Everything was well communicated, the job was done on time and the new beam looks great!! The area was left clean and he even washed the bottom porch. As a last surprise to make this an even a better experience, when we received the bill it was less than the initial estimate. Talk about something you never see!! I have already recommended A-1 to my neighbor. Thanks Rick and Shawn. What a great job!

  I guess I covered this in the above window...but please read the comments above...and again I say...from start to finish, Adaptations Design Studio was a joy to work with. I would add that from the financial perspective, Maggie and the Adaptations team were meticulous and tenacious about helping us find ways to re-claim and re-use materials (keeping the project green, and maintain the home's original feel and bones) , and to save on costs, without sacrificing quality. And again, we really valued the way Adapations showed respect for our ideas and helped us to implement them by using their expertise to bring it all together into a cohesive and beautiful space. We highly recommend Adaptaions Design Studios every chance we get, and would go to them without reservation if we ever needed to embark on a remodel/restoration project

  Their work was excellent. We provided them with work space and they are careful about not getting dust into our home. They put up plastic to prevent this. They have a schedule but sometimes things come up and they have to switch workers which was not a problem for us. They stand behind their warranties. They work hard and try to finish the project in the specified time. They hire good sub contractors. They are friendly and punctual. They do a good job cleaning up afterward and haul away all of their debry. They work with you if you want to do some of the work yourself. They bring out a port-a-potty for their workers so they do not need to use your facilities. We have used this company for various remodeling projects since 1996

  I currently live in Mt. Vernon but I also own a home in Seattle. The owner of this company and I went over some of the specific measurements over the phone and different prices for different types of materials. My two thoughts were to go with either a hardwood deck like I saw on their website or maybe even a composite trek deck. When we went over the prices I found myself willing to pay a little bit more for something that is really awesome. Once I let them know that I was intrigued by the tigerwood deck price range they told me they can go get the exact measurements and get a exact quote. After a few final questions and concerns I had my price and I was ready to move forward. After reading all of the reviews on Angie's list I knew that this was the company that I wanted building my deck. They made the whole process easy for me

  The whole outside of our house was worn beyond its years. The wood siding was hanging off and the windows were leaking the cold air. The roof had been a nice shingle roof 30 years ago. It all needed to be fixed. The Modernized Exteriors company was chosen because they would do all the work and so we didn't have to piece meal it out. They fixed the old deck which was a hazard. All composite decking with very little maintenance. It is good to do all exterior work at once because the fit is superior. The price was expensive but it was a good value. There was a lot of work done and we got our moneys worth
