They did a fantastic job! The job was finished a day earlier than planned which was a wonderful surprise. Flawless work, done by friendly guys who cleaned up the area at the end of the day and made the job as painless as possible. Great attention to detail, and they went above and beyond my expectations getting every room ready and put back together again, including removing and replacing blinds, drapes, and even a dog gate! I would hire this team again, and did line them up to do exterior work in the spring of 2019. This was the middle bid of 3 I obtained back in February, but Gary has wonderful references and a great attitude, so we went with him. I'm really glad we did.

Overall everything went pretty well. Lance Belka, owner of Belka Painting, is a very experienced and talented painter. He's been painting since 2003 and previously worked for and managed Step Up Painting. He formed his own company earlier this year in April. When I first met Lance, through Step Up Painting, he impressed me right away with his knowledge of painting, his attention to detail, and his attitude, This is why I hired him when he started his new company. I gave Belka Painting an overall rating of B, though if this website allowed it, I would have moved that to a B+ or A-. I couldn't quite get to a solid A because there were a couple glitches along the way having to do with mis-communications, personnel, and scheduling problems....all of which Lance handled and corrected in a professional manner. I believe that these 'glitches' were probably due, in part, to this being a newly formed company. Lance told me right from the start that he 'guaranteed' that when the job was finished...I would be 100% satisfied and he was right. Overall, the job could have gone a little smoother and a little quicker, but it all turned out good in the end and I now have a beautiful paint job that should last a long time. Kudos, also, to Lance's painting partner Jason, who also did excellent work.

We started the project in early October, and the whole job took six weeks.  Early rain and frost was a problem. I take responsibility for getting started so late in the year on finding a painter, and I'm grateful that Step Up bid and completed the job. But start earlier! Six weeks is a long time to have ladders and paint and workers around. 
I liked in particular how helpful Lance was with the placing of colors, and how careful they all were to get everything right. Lance was sometimes slow in getting back to us about questions--often he stopped by rather than phoned or emailed--but he was always clear, and he communicated well with his painters. They seemed to know what to do based on experience and their communication with him. They were easy to talk to as well, so I was able to clear up  a few questions myself.

Great 2 painters a full day $450

The service was good.  We were able to choose the type of paint that we wanted and he was very accommodating.  We checked on Angie’s list for painters and we got three bids, but we took him.  He was young and aggressive.  He was a go getter and he did very well.  His helper didn’t do such a good job and so we called him back, and he came out on a Saturday and completed the job which was much better.  His helper didn’t do well with the job and just didn’t do a professional painting job.  He  just did not pain a fine line. It was kind of bleeding a little bit on the line, but the lead person came out and totally made it right.  His price was average.

Lance was wonderfully responsive to the many questions I had. Easy to reach and very professional. The estimate he put together was very detailed and professional. As the business owner, he wasn't doing a lot of the painting himself, but I notice that he did some of the trickier bits, stopped by the job site frequently throughout the week  and he was the one who came back to do the final check and finish up the last few details. I appreciated that he made sure to check in after the first day to see how things were going and if there was anything I needed to talk about. He also did the same at the end of the job. I hope Step-Up is still around when I need the house painted again! I didn't think the cost was exceptionally high for painting my house (including foundation and garage) and I suspect it would have been less expensive if the painters hadn't needed to do so much scraping and prep work.

We were satisfied with the work they did.  He matched some existing colors and did a good job with that. We chose them based on pricing and availability. They did a good job.

Three workers arrived on time and immediately went to work covering all of the walls and ceilings with plastic because they were going to spray paint the cupboards.  They did not worry about the floors because we were having them replaced when the painting was finished.  They estimated 3 days of work and finished one day later because they used an extra layer of paint and had to wait for it to dry.  Lance came by the next evening after his regular day job and stayed until 11 p.m. putting finishing touches on everything.  
The workers were very professional and worked very hard the entire time.
We are very pleased with the results and would definitely use this company again.

See above. I did need to remind the estimator to include the senior discount in the final price, but that is no biggie to me.

We are very happy with the quality and look of the paint job. The painter was punctual, proffessional and picked up all of his work materials and tools daily.

After accepting their bid, Lance scheduled the job for the week of June 22, 2009. Before the job started, he helped us select a color. He came promptly on the 22nd, and got to work immediately with the pressure washing. He then moved along to prepping the areas that needed scrapping and seemed to identify and clean up all the problem areas. We had rain on the 3 and 4th day of the job, so that put the job behind. He came in over the weekend to finish. Lance was efficient and directed his crew in a professional manner. His work was very good.
