2009 years of experience

After my uncle introduced me to computers at the Age of 7, I have been working with technology every chance I could get. This led to taking some accelerated programs out of high School, and eventually being hired to troubleshoot office machines at Microsoft via Siemens at the Age of 17. Eventually moving on to technician positions with AT&T, Verizon, and Tmobile, I decided to focus more on actual troubleshooting instead of Network management, and took various positions with Compusave and PC Club Computers in order to cement some further troubleshooting technique. After the 2008 recession, I was laid off twice, and decided the best way to secure future income was to work for myself. Established in 2009. Started with literally a screwdriver, a flash drive, and some Internet in 2009. I decided to go freelance after getting laid off of my last two repair shop jobs. Currently, I live in Kennewick WA with my wife and son and try to provide a low cost alternative to the big name guys by offering an affordably priced, FLAT RATE computer repair service for locals.

Phone Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, it’s usually more cost-effective to repair a cellphone than replace it entirely. Phone repair services can be costly, depending on the extent and type of damage, but you’ll almost always spend less on repair than on replacement. Plus, replacing the phone might not help if the problem lies with your service provider, such as issues like dropped calls or poor network connection. However, it’s worth repairing your phone for mid-level issues like a cracked screen, damaged headphone jack, or smashed charger port.

In most cases, it is more affordable to repair a cellphone than it is to buy a new one. The average cost to repair a phone is around $180, while the average smartphone costs between $720 and $1,000 or more. Repair costs are almost never more than 50% of the total phone cost, with the high end of repairs costing around $350. If you hire a professional phone repair service near you, you’ll usually save significant funds repairing instead of replacing your cellphone.

Repairs take 2-6 hours, but extensive frame replacements may extend the timeline.

Yes, you can usually put a screen protector over a cracked screen, especially if there aren’t pieces of glass missing. This method is a useful temporary solution to avoid cutting your fingers on your broken screen and to avoid further cracking or losing glass and exposing the inner components of your phone. However, a screen protector isn’t a permanent solution to a cracked screen. You should still take your phone to a professional phone repair technician to get the screen replaced for proper and safe functionality. This service should only cost you about $150, in most cases.

It is possible to fix a broken phone screen yourself using a phone repair kit, but we don’t recommend it. Replacing your screen isn’t as simple as taking the old one off and putting the new one on, and DIYers can mess up many steps. Those include opening the phone without damaging internal components, removing internal pieces without breaking them, and calibrating the screen after replacement. Any mistakes could lead to problems with functionality and might lead to your phone failing to work. It’s best to hire a phone repair technician who can fix your phone screen efficiently.
