"DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! We were contacted by Avi after using Angi's List. He said he was in the area and could swing by for an estimate. Once here he suggested we get the leak from our skylight fixed immediately. We agreed, signed a contract then paid a deposit. Work was to start the next day. We then get a call, parts won't be in for four days, but crew will load up and be here Monday with the parts. Monday comes around, no crew. I call late morning and am assured crew will be there. They show up with caulk. I call Avi, he explains they don't have the parts, and don't know when they will, he comes down and tarps the leak. He offers to pay for a new skylight if I don't leave a bad review. I tell him just fix the leak as agreed. One week goes by, he texts me they can't fix it and offer to refund me. What a waste of two weeks! At least I got a tarp out of the deal. What roofing company can't fix a leak from a skylight? I have a complete text log from with all the excuses to why they can't do this job for all those future customers to enjoy. It does make for a good laugh at the back pedaling from Avi."

It’s not normal for a chimney to leak even a little bit during heavy rain. A chimney in good condition will keep rain from seeping into the chimney or house, so if you notice a small leak during a rainstorm, it’s time to call a pro for inspection. Copper roofs last an average of around 100 years, making it one of the longest-lasting types of roofs. It’s significantly more expensive than an asphalt shingle roof, but it also lasts three to four times as long, providing great value for the money. You can extend the life of your copper roof by carrying out routine maintenance, like scheduling annual cleaning and roof inspections.

Moss grows in dark areas of roofs, including in corners and gutters. If left alone, it can grow under roofing and cause permanent damage. Here’s how to remove moss from metal roofs: 

  • Soak the moss to soften it

  • Scrub it away with a soft-bristled brush, or pick it off with your hands (be sure to wear gloves)

  • Use a moss remover that’s compatible with metal roofing, following the manufacturer’s directions

  • Remove dead moss and rinse the roof thoroughly

  • Prevent future moss growth by trimming branches, cleaning gutters, and attaching zinc strips to moss-prone areas

Metal roofs do not technically require a drip edge if the roof overhangs at least one inch, because the roof's slant will cause water to flow away from the structure. But a drip edge would be an added level of protection for a metal roof to help keep moisture issues at bay.

Metal roofs are dangerous to walk on, even for professionals. Metal shake does offer some texture to help with grip, but metal itself is extremely slippery, especially at a medium to steep pitch, so call in a pro rather than getting up on the roof yourself.
