"I reached out to 5 businesses on Angie's list for quotes and Universal Landscape immediately exceeded my expectations right off the bat. Joey met with me in person, listened to my ideas and gave recommendations to fit my needs. He answered all of my questions promptly via email over the course of the entire project. "We had Tim and Eli of Reach Dirt Works out to do a variety of projects on our 5 acres. They cut in a 400’ French drain system, removed a small hill and prepped our back yard/patio for sod, prepped and built a 100’ retaining wall 5’ tall, pulled stumps, took down trees and processed them, demoed concrete and installed drainage from the house. I was very impressed with their range of skills. In my opinion, when most contractors can accomplish similar tasks for the consumer, I find that the personal quality of the worker/owners is what matters most, and in this case Tim and Eli are above the rest. I would happily use them again and recommend them to all."

"I was amazed by how quickly they removed the old driveway and then laid down the new. I didn't really want to have to replace the driveway but a hole formed right in the middle and forced the issue. They found the source of the sink hole, fixed it and replaced the driveway."

Depending on the type of paver you choose, you can also get a good bang for your buck by investing in durable natural stone.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet. 

Several materials are suitable for steep driveways. Gravel and crushed stone are affordable options that provide good traction. Permeable pavers—such as plastic, rubber, or concrete—filled with gravel or crushed stones are also excellent, as they allow water to drain without causing erosion and perform well in ice and snow. Another option is resin, which can be coated with an anti-slip finish and helps prevent puddles. For added stability, you can install a retaining wall to prevent pavers and gravel from shifting over time.

An ideal driveway gradient is between 2% and 5%. Anything lower than 1% or higher than 15% can cause problems for your car or property. A driveway with less than a 1% slope increases your likelihood of flooding and water damage, while a driveway with a 15% grade or higher can be too steep for safe traveling.
