"I would not recommend Riverside Roofing to anyone. The work I could see and understand was sloppy. For example, chimney counterflashing in the contract was not installed until we pointed out that the original was still on the house(and when it was done, had to be re-done by the owner personally because it was so poorly done the first time). In another example, skylights were installed, requiring some framing - and the framer cut one of the wood pieces several inches short - so short that they used at least a dozen nails to try to keep it together. Some of this subpar work was also matched with poor communication. Riverside Roofing re-did an attic access for us, but neglected to measure the rafter distance. Although I was home at the time and could have been informed of changes, Riverside decided to cut the access to a size smaller than code, when I pointed it out, gave me grief about even asking that it be the proper size. Other examples of communication lapses include not letting us know that roofing material was going to be delivered via crane, requiring all of my neighbors to move their cars, especially since the owner and I had just met in person the day before to discuss what we needed to do to prepare. My most serious concern with Riverside Roofing was the lack of consideration they had for us as customers. When the work was not done, the owner insisted that I should pay in full or "minus $500" when the work was not done. I understand that it was, as he said, "a lot of money" still unpaid, but given the communication breakdowns before, I simply had no confidence that outstanding fixes would be taken care of otherwise. And, given how long it did take to finish even with that bill not yet paid, I feel confident in my decision to hold off. Riverside Roofing reflects poorly on the roofing business as a whole. Given the poor quality of work that I *could* see, I have no idea about the state of the products that I couldn't see or don't understand. I listed our last contact in June - but the roofing actually started in March! This was a disappointing and frustrating experience for us."
