Good so far not leaking

My roof was 21 years old—not yet leaking but certainly past its prime, looking tired and worn. I got 3 bids and chose Star Roofing based on the fair price, the Certainteed product, and referrals from two friends. Kris is knowledgeable and took the time to answer my many questions. After doing some research I chose the Ridgevent external baffle shingle vent system for better roof venting than regular roof vents, and the high profile hip and ridge which look amazing. My roof was done in two days and the crew cleaned up the yard well. I can’t get over the dramatic improvement in curb appeal. I highly recommend Star Roofing.

I am a reasonable person and expected to pay something toward the repair, but I have not been contacted by anyone after numerous calls asking to have the repair made.

Communicated clearly, professionally done, clean up was immaculate.

The Star Roofing crew and dumpster arrived when promised. Being a small house and a three person crew, the roof was easily done in a day. The workers were friendly and our renter and my husband and I couldn't be more pleased with the new roof. Thank you Star Roofing and Kris.

2 weeks before we were to head out of town for 2 weeks for our wedding, the skylight in our livingroom started leaking! We called around to multiple roofing companies to ask for help, but no one could come estimate and do the repair in two weeks. That was true until we called Star Roofing. They came out to estimate the repair within a few days after our initial call. The man who came to estimate the repair was very nice and gave us some good information about our cedar roof. A few days later, the roof was fixed and we were soon off to our wedding and honeymoon without worry about coming home to a flooded living room. Thank you Star Roofing. When we do replace our roof we will be calling you first.

The work was done quickly and very well. We are very pleased with the look and with the job. Well done!

Communications with company were poor and roofers did not speak English. Yard, deck and shrubbery not protected as assured. Gutters were good before tear-off but now leaks at the seams. Looks like I will have to have gutters and downspouts replaced. During install, equipment caused a circuit breaker to flip. Lost power to the garage where I have my freezer. Crew did not report the loss of power and I only discovered it late in evening when I went into the garage. I feel that I paid a very high price for quality assured by my neighbors and Angie's list and am disappointed (i.e. several neighbors used this company and were very happy but apparently I needed a male presence to assure quality job). I was very happy with follow-up to my concerns. They went the extra mile to make sure my skylights and solar shades were working well. They also sealed some seams in my gutters and cleaned up irregular roof line and returned to clean up asphalt marks left on the deck by the tear off.

My first experience with Star Roofing was having an evaluation of the current roof. Kris came by and climbed up to the roof to thoroughly examine its existing condition. I felt he gave an accurate depiction of its current state and what my options were. At that point, I decided to replace the roof based upon the information presented. We then talked about the different options and I never felt pressured to pay for any unnecessary upgrades. At that time, I told them I need to look at other companies and get other estimates which they understood. Even during my evaluation period of other companies, I never got a hard sell and they basically gave me the time to decide whether to go with them or not.

About two months later, I went for the mid quality with minimal decorative accents. At that point, things moved really quick. Basically, I got a call scheduling the the roof replacement the next week after I put a deposit down. The first day they came earlier than expected (very punctual) and removed the old roof and laid out the barrier lining along with replacing any rotted cedar board. When working around the skylights, they was expected debris that fell inside the house, I wish they warned us ahead of time so I could laid down a tarp for easy cleaning later.

The second day they came with a crane and hauled a pallet of shingles on the roof on a make shift platform. It was a little disconcerting as it did shake the house with great force and I wish they warn us ahead of time. At that point, they put on the new shingles which took two days. All in all, it took 3 days total.

I am quite pleased with the quality of the work. It looked great. I appreciated how it fast the process was and how they cleaned up after themselves. All in all a good experience. I would definitely recommend them for roofing to friends and family.

At first I was just excited to get them out to our house with a leaky roof.  After the first real storms in early November everyone was really busy.  They were able to get out quickly to give us a diagnosis.  I got a call from John who said the roof looked fine and that with a little cleanup we should be ok.  The gutters needed cleaning and the storms had left debris and pine needles all over the roof.  He quoted me $250 to clean off the roof and gutters.  I gave the go ahead with the contingency that if the roof continued to leak we could apply the $250 to future repairs.  I was a little skeptical and found out later from our tenant that they never even entered the house to see where the water was coming in.  About a week later when the rain came back the leak came back.  I called Star Roofing and was told that someone would be contacting me soon.  I called multiple other companies because everyone was really busy with the foul weather.  After I hadn't heard from them for about a week I called again.  Same story.  They were really busy but would call back when they could.  Never heard back.  I called one final time but by this point had managed to get three other companies to come out and take a look.  It turns out the roof is in it's final stages and 3 different people have suggested the roof be replaced.  A simple returned phone call would've been greatly appreciated.

I have a torch down roof put on by a different contractor just before we bought our house last year.  Whoever put our roof on didn't do a stellar job of sealing everything.  With the heavy rain, water started seeping in at the vents and seams. I called Star Roofing this morning and asked them to take a look. They were able to come out in a few hours and reseal all the vents and seams.  I didn't want to redo the roof, just shore it up a bit. I was very happy with the quick service and the reasonable cost.  Thank you for making my coming holidays brighter!

We did get few quotes. They were the best and fastest. Did hire them and it was all good. Will use them any day.

I had contacted several roofing contractors and compared prices, their presentation, their warranty and whether their proposal would meet my needs.  From the very start I was very pleased with Star Roofing.  They were very prompt in coming out to make a presentation and give me an estimate.  Their staff person (Kris) was very easy to work with, listened to what I wanted and was willing to work with me, even willing to do at no additional cost minor repairs that were not directly related to the roofing project.  He made the best presentation, addressed all of my roofing needs, gave the best price and offered a superior warranty for their work, compared to the others I had contacted.
When they came out to do the job, they were punctual, brought a full crew and were fully ready to begin work immediately.  They had sent a dumpster in advance and began the tear-down as soon as the crew arrived.  They were careful to protect my plantings and other parts of my property and were scrupulous in cleaning up after themselves. Start to finish it was a two-day job, with the exception of detail work that needed to be done to my front porch roof (which was included at no additional charge).  They sent a man out on the third day to finish the porch--in the rain--and the job was complete.
All of their staff was professional and conscientious at all times and in all ways.  They did everything that had been promised and in a manner that was entirely to my satisfaction.    
After the work was completed, Kris came out to inspect the job.  He responded to all of my questions, even getting up on a ladder to address one of my specific questions.  Final payment was not asked for until he was sure that all of my questions had been addressed to my satisfaction.  Star Roofing is clearly about doing good work and their goal is to have a satisfied customer, which I am.
A few months later I had a new concern and they sent out someone to once again look at the roof and at my specific concern. He  assured me that the job had indeed been done correctly and as they had said it would be.  I got the clear impression that if I had further questions at a later time, they would be glad to send someone out again.
I would recommend Star Roofing to others with no hesitation.  They did excellent work and, I believe, gave me the best value for my money. 

This is a mixed review although based on the company's current staffing, I would highly recommend them.
Last Fall I called Star Roofing to repair a leaking skylight. They came out and identified a few potential areas that could be the problem and repaired them. Unfortunately this didn't solve the problem as it started to leak again this winter. Once again they came out (free of charge) to fix it again. Once I felt comfortable it was fixed, I hired someone to repair the drywall and repaint the inside this Spring.
So come the May rain, it leaked again!!! I called and spoke to Jimmy who was incredibly responsive. He explained that the company had done some reorganization so now have more experienced staff. I shared my situation and he came out immediately, diagnosed the problem (need wider metal sheathing around the skylight to divert water) and fixed it at no charge. No questions asked. He then explained that our second skylight would need the same repairs, otherwise it would eventually leak. I approved it and he came out as soon as his schedule allowed (within a week) and repaired that skylight.
Given their current staffing, I highly recommend them.

We called quite a few roofers, none of whom were interested in our small job.  Star call us right back and sent some one out that same day. The roofing expert was polite. Got up on our slate roof, took up about 6 tiles, found the problem, applied caulk and fixed the problem. He took pictures and explained what he did.  It was well worth the minimum charge of $250. We were so relieved and felt like they cared.

Star Roofing's response was okay. We had a leak in the skylight and found out that the cover had blown off during a wind storm. The repair person screwed it back on. I never received a bill and honestly, I had forgotten about it. Today, March 26, a bill finally came. The date of service was highlighted and there was a note "Please pay upon receipt"  The reason for my poor rating is the fact that it took them 3 months to send the bill, then act like I am dragging my feet paying it. That made me pretty upset. I would have paid the totally overpriced service call right away if they would have had there act together. 
Star Roofing! Get the money right when the service is performed like everybody else does. Not a happy camper!!!
