"Solis has my permission to give my phone number to someone needing their help! In brief, excellent, above and beyond excellent professional work. Excellent service. Clean, fast and done in half the time expected. Always smiles on their faces! Went above expectations with working with insurance . Always able to assist with any questions. "Very responsive, answered all our questions, provided details and pictures to explain the rooting project proposed. We had planned to hire them, but the Buyer of the property decided not to have us do the roof after all. He determined he would do it instead, so we provided D-1 Roofing's name so he could contact them directly. We will certainly consider D-1 Roofing for our other property's needs. Thanks !!"

Small jobs welcome

"We just bought a condo that had ventilation needs. Jonathan arrived on time, inspected the roof and attic, made recommendations on necessary repairs. He gave us a reasonable estimate. We hired him on the spot. He showed up with a helper on time again, completed the job in a timely basis, fixed the overblown insulation and cleaned up after themselves. Reasonable rates, professional attitude and on time! We now have plenty of ventilation. Thanks for a job well done."

"I had them replace my roof. Lowest bid. You get what you pay for. A fair number of nails and old material left behind when the project was done. eight years later, I noticed shingles popping up. I called and asked about how the warranty on 40 year shingles works. The owner said he'd be out the next day to fix the problem. Never showed up. Since, the phone goes top voicemail, which is full."

"Elias Contruction provided a detailed estimate after inspecting the roof and making some qualified recommendations. The project required a few change orders that were not clarified in writing. I would recommend hiring Elias if you get changes in writing. They cleaned up pretty well although they missed a few things due to finishing in the dark. Overall satisfied with the job and cost was 60% of other bids due to sheathing adjustment."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The common formula for measuring a roof is length x width equals square footage. Professional roofers measure the length and width of your roof, including dormers, and determine its pitch and rafter sizes. If a roof surface is a triangle, they’ll divide that square footage by two, then add up the square footage of each surface to get the total for the roof.

It’s possible to install your chimney cap in some areas, but it’s usually better to hire a professional. Before you attempt a DIY chimney cap installation, check to see if your local building department requires a permit. If it does, you should hire a professional to pull the permit and complete the work for you. Even if you don’t need a permit, getting up on your roof is dangerous, especially if you have an aggressive pitch or slippery roof material, like metal. Hiring a chimney professional guarantees the job is done correctly and keeps you safe from injury.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.

The terms “roof sealant” and “roof coating” are used interchangeably to describe the rubber, silicone, polyurethane, or acrylic product applied to the roof’s surface for waterproofing and UV protection. Products like roof caulk can also be called “roof sealant,” but the term is more commonly used for the protective coating.

Technically speaking, yes, verbal agreements and “handshake deals” can be legally binding contracts that will hold up in court, but the suing party will need to be able to prove that the parties entered into the contract. Even though verbal and handshake deals can be binding, it’s risky to rely on these types of agreements for anything, including roofing projects. Always aim to get your contract in writing, and make sure it includes all terms and that you don’t agree to additional terms that don’t appear in the contract.
