They scoped the sewer line with a camera and found a big blockage that was caused by roots. They were able to clear the blockage. Everything is now working great. We set up an appointment for early evening, at which time I mentioned we had intended to celebrate family birthdays that evening. They offered a morning window but than assigned a contractor who was on a potentially all-morning job.
