We are a local, family owned and run business, based out of Marysville, WA and servicing the Puget Sound area. Owner Shay Barber has been working in the construction trades for over 15 years. Asphalt Shingle Roofing Repair
Got an estimate beginning of may. 8 weeks later after putting half down his crew showed up late. First Shay decided I needed more work. An extra $3k was approximated and I asked for estimate emailed. Estimate was $9k more. I rejected the change 4 separate communications and monday morning his crew showed up late tearing up the roof for additional work. I called Shay and stated I rejected change and he told me I must pay extra to restore the roof or he pulls the crew with roof open. Finally rew gets tge roof done after a progress payment was made using my debit leaving $2k left. I went to buy a cashier check for PAID IN FULL final payment and found 1st Choice had gone ahead without my authorization. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I cannot stress this enough! I have never had a contractor curse me out!!!

Exterior Trim - Repair
On June 18 provider did temporary fix on chimney flashing (contract signed for all work June 18) that did more damage than it supposedly fixed. was verified by the other contractor bidders and new hired contractor who repaired the chimney flashing and roof that was damaged by 1st Choice. 1st Choice oworked for only half a day on the 18th on the roof flashing around the chimney. On the 19th (next day) day we texted them, talked with them on the phone telling them we unhappy with their work and were cancelling the contract dated, on June 18. Owners stopped responding to my texts or phone calls after June 19. On June 20, I sent them a letter by certified mail stating we wanted to cancel the contact and a refund of money already paid. No response.

Shay visited our property to inspect our roof and identify the source of a leak. While I'm pleased that he was able to identify areas in the attic that needed repairs, I am dissatisfied with the cost of his services. He initially quoted me a price that was significantly lower than the final bill. Shay assured me that the previous roofing company I used would gladly reimburse me for the cost, but that has not happened.
I have attempted to contact Shay multiple times to discuss his inflated fees, but he has not returned my calls. I feel misled into believing I would receive reimbursement, and I believe I was overcharged. I would recommend avoiding this company at all costs!

Flat, Foam or Single Ply Roofing Repair
Shay came out on the same day as scheduled, though not the time arranged. He thought he could fix our issue with a few small adjustments and some roof cleaning. For less than two hours of work, he wanted to charge $8500, and was verbally aggressive towards my wife when she pointed out that we had not authorized that amount. When the work did not do anything to fix our problem, Shay claimed they could do even more work for a small cost because most of the work was already done. This did not match at all the proper fix another company did, so we declined.

Chepe and the crew were great. Hardest working guys Iâ ve met in a long time. Very responsive to everything (email, text or call). Fixed three leaks, replaced fireplace flashing, replaced vents, cleaned roof and repaired and even did our gutters. Would recommend.

1st Choice Home Construction is incompetent , unprofessional , pure disaster. Shay gets very angry but lacks competency , ability to finish the jobs. this company installed new roof. took a lot of time before installing the roof. that company accidentally ordered more glass than needed with our money. one patch on roof is still not fixed. I have to hire some one to fix it all over again. the owner shay is so loud and i will avoid to talk to him ever in my life. Also shay left to fix one part of the roof. incompetent , disaster company .

1st Choice Construction was very patient in listening to my concerns about the roof and assured me that my leaky roof can be fixed to last for the remainder of its expected lifetime, given that my roof is only 11.5 years old. !st Choice Construction backed it up with a warranty on their work! Shay performed a thorough assessment from both the outside on the roof and inside the attic. He was the only one to actively stop the leak that served as a temporary fix until the permanent repairs are to be done. Also, I am very pleased with the estimate. I will definitely recommend this company to my neighbors, who will likely have the same problem as me, since our homes were built by the same home building company.

Crew and owner were very. Ice and professional to work with. After hiring the wait was about 4 weeks and once they started it took about 4 consecutive days to finish the roof project. I am very happy with the work they did. I would gladly hire them again for any external housing work needed.

Great experience. We had a leaking roof and put out inquiries to several companies. Joe at 1st Choice was the first to connect with me and made an appointment for the next day. Joe showed us where the problems were and what needed to be done immediately to fix the leak, and what could be addressed later. He had his crew out the following day for the repair. Excellent response time and communication, and really great work. Very pleased.

They were awesome. My furnace vent was damaged in a recent windstorm. Joe came out a day or two later and did the assessment. A week later one of their repairmen showed up and installed a new vent. Thanks to all the rain I have a small leak in our bedroom and will be calling them soon. I know they’ll get the job done right.

We had leaking in the second floor den and first floor garage ceiling 1 week ago. Our HOA hired a roofing company, they put tarp on the roof. They don't know how to repair tile roof. But we still had leaking after they put tarp. It's very difficult to find a roofing company available this year, especially in winter season. Everyone is busy. I found 1st Choice at Home Advisor. Joe contacted with me quickly. He communicated with me and HOA president very well. He explained the reason we had leaking after we sent him some pictures. Then he sent a technician to help us do the emergency dry in. Very professional work. We are very satisfied with 1st Choice. Our tenants are very happy as well. Will hire 1st Choice again in the future for other properties' roof repair and replacement. 1st Choice is on my top list now. Thank you again Joe.
