We found many many pieces that were 10" in length and a few at 20". We have to filter through 10 yards of chips to take out all these long shards. I should have asked about the characteristics of their play chips before going with them, but was sold on the good pricing and prompt responses to our request. I would use them for other materials but not for play chips unless they have better quality control to remove shards. We installed a large wooden deck at the back of our house about 10 years ago, using high-grade pressure treated lumber. For the first 7 years I used oil-based stain, but was hoping to find a product, which was easier to use. I came across the marketing brochures of a well known paint company's Waterborne Deck Stain, and the pictures looked wonderful. As a result I purchased the product 3 years ago and applied it to the deck. At first it looked wonderful, but within a year the paint had started to chip and flake, particularly where there were knots in the wood. Another coat seemed to help for a short while, but at the end of two years the deck looked worse. After complaining, a company expert came to our house, advised me on applying a more opaque coat of paint (he provided the paint without cost), but indicated that his solution would probably not be a permanent fix. This spring the deck looked worse than ever--chipping and flaking randomly.
We decided to have Deji Harrison give us a quote for refinishing the deck.. We are extremely pleased with the results. Deji is exceedingly conscientious, and takes pride in his workmanship. He is a stickler for detail-- and quot;good enoughand quot; is not part of his vocabulary. He covered up all the bushes near the deck, and protected the house where it met the deck. He and his helpers also helped us to move deck furniture, and they cleaned up thoroughly at the end of each day and upon completion of the job.
We will certainly use his services in the future, and would recommend him without any reservation to others who want quality workmanship at a fair price.

He returned my call promptly, we set a time and he arrived ahead of time. He asked us to show him what we wanted done, not just where o grind, but what we planned to do once the stumps were removed. He then quoted us a price, we agreed and he promptly went to work. When we set the appointment he told me that he would not be able to chip the trees, but would cut them into rounds. We agreed to cut and dispose of their branches. In other words he clearly set limits on what he could do and what our expectations should be. His working style is very precise; All trees were dropped parallel to each other, such that he could cut the trunks efficiently and leave their branches in a neat cluster, ends pointing the same direction. He'd already moved the stump grinder to the area, such that, rounds cut, he was grinding their stumps immediately. He used a shield to ensure debris was not scattered all over the garden. He confirmed with us in advance we intended to replant where the stumps had been, and ensured he chipped down enough to allow that to happen. I think he was finished in less than an hour, including using a yard blower, raking, and reloading the chipper on his truck. Frankly I like his way of doing business: when he comes, he'll quote the job and if agreed, he'lll do it right then and there. No return appointments, scheduling, etc.. We have been getting many compliments on Sunny Seattle's work. Amado helped us to secure permitting which was a big challenge! He made sure everything was done to code and permitted. "The work they did is top notch, I love our patio and couldn't be happier with what they've done with the space. They did a lot of work for us over two months to build a patio and beautiful back yard. We love it. That said, our home is a 70+ year old house in Magnolia with concrete pipes. A year or so after they did the work we had a backup. After the plumbers came out they found that a section of the piping had been crushed by a large rock that had been set while they were regrading the area. The repairs were ~15k all said and done then. I contacted Ryan and he looked into their insurance covering it and they weren't going to do it out of pocket. I value my time more than money and I let it go, and Ryan had some guys come out and fix the area that had to be torn up for free, least they can do. Well after they were done the plumbers spotted another crushed section that lined up and should be 'okay'. Fast forward a year, it wasn't we had another backup. They cleared it and we just had it fixed with another 5k bill. Ryan had said they wouldn't do it for free but 'hours and material'. They didn't give me a quote I shrugged and assumed it would be a mornings worth of work. They came out and spent two days, and they just handed me a bill for another $3200, to clean up after damage they caused and I'm paying for."

FAQs for brush chipping projects in Cottage Lake, WA
Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.

Mulch costs anywhere from $30 to $150 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material. Cedar, cypress, and rubber mulch cost anywhere from $100 to $120 per cubic yard. A pro can help you determine the type of mulch most suitable for your landscaping needs.
Yes, you will want to confirm that the tree removal company you hire is insured before proceeding with the job. Tree removal can be dangerous work, and it's important to verify that the company carries the proper insurance to cover any onsite accidents or damage.
