Customers say: Quality work

"What he lacks in communication skills he more than makes up in service provided. I had another Pest control company before Sterling. They were not local. After realizing I wanted & needed regular service, I wanted to go local. It was very hard to coordinate the original appointment. Once he finally got to my house, he did a grade job. The other company never went in my crawl space in the 15 months they serviced my home. Sterlings winter service is all about going in my crawl space, spraying & checking for problems. Very impressed."

"Jonas called me to let me know he was on his way. He was punctual, professional, and very accommodating with my request for a no contact inspection. During the inspection, he phoned me and described possible problem areas on the structure as well as texting me photos of those areas. He said there was evidence of mice having been there, but no recent activity, so all we had to do was seal off some possible entry points. He recommended a repair person to help with the work. Jonas was very pleasant, informative, and did a thorough job. I would absolutely recommend the Pest Control Company to others."

"On the positive side, he was knowledgeable and came out right when scheduled. However, the cost was about double what I expected but I didn t ask before hiring....shame on me. It s been a while since I ve hired professional pest control people so perhaps cost has gone up."

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

You will need to discuss with your pest control expert to know when and what to clean after the treatment. Sometimes, you may have to wait a couple of weeks for deep cleaning to avoid wiping up the treatment they applied.

However, you’ll want to wipe down any surfaces you use for food prep and eating. Before the treatment, you’ll also want to make sure that items such as pet dishes and children's toys won’t be exposed to the chemicals.

Paper wasps, like many other wasps, are attracted to sweet smells that remind them of nectar. That’s why wasps may buzz around you as you snack on watermelon on the patio. They may also like the scent of certain perfumes. Standing water attracts these wasps, too.

Paper wasps are also attracted to warm, sheltered spaces, where they can build nests and raise larva in protected areas away from predators. They may also be attracted to untreated wood on your deck or fence, as they use wood pulp to build nests.

If the cat is stray (you noticed a collar or other signs of domestication), the kind thing to do is to try and find the owner. Call around to other neighbors to see if they can lead you in the right direction. If you can get close enough to snap a picture, try posting an image of the cat to local community groups and pages on social media.

If the cat is feral, you can try to humanely trap them and participate in a local shelter’s TNR program. Before attempting capture, call around to local rescues and shelters to make sure one near you does participate in a TNR program. They may even be able to catch the cat for you.

Setting up an animal trap in your yard largely depends on where you live and the type of critter you're dealing with. In many states, trapping nuisance animals like squirrels, rats, or raccoons is allowed, sometimes without needing a permit. However, certain wildlife species are protected, and not all states have lenient catch-and-release regulations.

Before placing a trap, check your local laws to avoid fines or other legal issues. Some areas allow DIY trapping, while others may require professional assistance. Most areas require a professional to relocate the animal once trapped. Consulting a pro ensures you handle the situation responsibly, humanely, and within the law.

A raccoon may be hanging around your house for convenient access to food, water, or shelter. They may drink water out of puddles, pools, ponds, fountains, or your pet’s water bowls. Raccoons are also known to eat just about anything, including food from gardens and waste from unsecured trash cans.
