Small jobs welcome

"Matt and his team totally refinished our basement and garage in our new accessible home. He listened to what we wanted and made excellent suggestions to the design and delivered a wonderful â great roomâ in our basement. He put in a full bathroom with storage and used nooks and crannies to make more storage under the stairs and in the enclosed utility room. His sensitivity to my husbandâ s disability was always front of mind. The garage was insulated and dry walled. He built an accessible work bench and nook with a bench to hang winter coats and change boots. As if all of this wasnâ t enough, he did all of this on budget and on time. His estimate was 1/3 of what the big name construction companies in the area had quoted. And he delivered everything that we needed and wanted. He came highly recommended to us from one of our neighbors and we gladly pass along the high recommendation to anyone who wants simple yet creative and solid solutions for your remodeling projects."

"I never contacted the provider or used this service in anyway. I have to
write this review so that the request to write this review stops
popping up.
The rating is bogus as it is required to be able to submit.

"Once I sent her all the measurements, it took her a little while to get the options back to me.  Overall, they're good designs.  However, they're very simplistic and give general ideas for space planning.  I was hoping to have a better idea for sizes of furniture for the space and some variations on staging.
Jill was very responsive when I did have a question.  I'm not sure how helpful it is to have a virtual design done.  If we lived in similar cities, I'd probably use her again for help with additional designs.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Converting a carport into a garage can vary in difficulty depending on its configuration, the condition of the foundation or slab, and its location relative to the house. The process has a lot in common with a home addition, but you can often skip non-essential finishes like fine flooring, trim work, or even drywall and HVAC. The conversion requires experience with drywall, insulation, and other building materials to ensure it’s done safely and correctly. While it might be possible for a DIYer with the proper tools and skills to do the work, it is a complicated and potentially dangerous job. If you’re new to basic construction, it's best to leave this project to the professionals.

While it is possible to build a wooden carport yourself, especially if you are skilled in carpentry, professional construction is recommended. Professionals ensure structural integrity, proper anchoring, correct alignment, and the use of quality materials for a stable and durable result.

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

Metal stud framing parts include the studs themselves, upper and lower tracks that act as top and bottom wall plates, various angle fasteners and clips, screws for fastening pieces togeher, metal straps, c-channel supports, and thicker steel supporting structures. Roof framing metal components include pre-fabricated trusses, heavy-gauge stud pieces, and various plates and fasteners.

Most load-bearing walls are exterior, though they can also be interior.
