They did all the heavy lifting, and moved things around as needed. Bob emailed us every weekend with a "where we are now, what is scheduled for next week, and what we needed to pack/move". Things changed as items were available early, or needed to be rescheduled, and it was always a smooth transition. We have a couple of outstanding items that will be done in a couple weeks once they arrive, but that was due to us adding them to the project towards the end. They stayed within their original estimate. The price of the overall project did increase, but that was due to our adding items, or selecting things that were above the estimate allowance. In cases where we were below the allowance, the estimate decreased. Any issues/questions that came up were discussed and we were given multiple options/recommendations to choose from. They scheduled the plumber, electrician, cabinet delivery, etc., and things would just magically show up when needed. Anything that was incorrect (i.e. wrong faucet was ordered by the vendor), was rectified quickly. Any questions we had were answered quickly, any changes we wanted were met with enthusiasm and with options as to how we wanted them accomplished. We have asked them to do an estimate for a couple of other projects, and plan to use them again when the time comes."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/vt/underhill/lakewood-construction%2C-llc-reviews-7375513.htm"},"position":5},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"GIROUX BODY SHOP","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"VT","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Annellie B."},"reviewBody":"AMAZING! I searched high and low until one of the merchants I contacted recommended these guys. I had been told by 2 auto shops (one very prominent one in Chittenden County) that the premature rusting on my vehicle was beyond repair and that the vehicle was, essentially, done. I had put so much money into the car and just couldn't reconcile that my car, in otherwise very good condition, had to head to the auto cemetery. And, my inspection was overdue, so I had to find an answer FAST. Either get it fixed or get it off the road. And I wanted to get it fixed. So, when Giroux was recommended as a place that could 'manufacture' the part that was otherwise unable to be replaced, I drove straight over to Giroux for a consultation. A 1/2 day and $250 later, it was fixed! Still driving -- nearly 2 years later..... Needless-to-say, when another piece begins to look questionable, I'll be heading right back to Giroux! Thanks, guys, you rock!!

They came in and kept the job very clean and were very respectful of our household. The workers put down runners before they did the construction. They didn't leave a mess behind, they gave us a very accurate quote and they finished the job quickly and on time. We definitely will use them again. The quality of the work was excellent and I couldn't have asked for better. They're very fast and gave us a very detailed quote in the beginning. It was a really terrible job with backbreaking work. They removed all the debris in one day and basically had all the sheet-rock and all the flooring ripped out of there and redone in five days. We were floored how quickly they got the work done and it was great. They had to cut all the sheet-rock out and remove all the flooring, then replace everything. The price is a little higher than what we were quoted from other construction companies, however, a couple other companies kept saying they were going to come and they kept pushing the date out. Crowley said, 'We could be there next week.' And they were ready to go on the day that they said they could be here and they got it done in the time frame that they said they could. So, I can't say enough good things about them because we actually looked at a couple of other people on Angie's List and we just couldn't get them on the job site. So I was very impressed in Crowley's ability to estimate how long it would take and be here when they said they would. They were very respectful of our family when they came to the house and we were impressed with their professionalism. We're planning on another project soon so I'll use them again."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/vt/colchester/crowley-construction-co-inc-reviews-500502.htm"},"position":7},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Liberty Sewer and Drain Services LLC","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"VT","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Laura D."},"reviewBody":"From first speaking with Dan during the estimate call, I felt confident about hiring him to do the job. He was very honest with me, and he was also straight-forward about the estimate process, not requiring I set aside a separate date to have an in-person estimate. I appreciated being able to get an estimate over the phone, since I am so busy. Dan was helpful in providing me helpful advice on picking out the best toilet to fit our needs. Between what he used in his own home, as well as frequent customer requests, he had a lot of good information to guide us and help us find the best quality and best price for the toilet hardware purchase. The day of the job, Dan arrived on time and well prepared. He was extremely careful in the house, making sure to wear booties on his work boots, and kept his work area very clean, immediately wiping up any water. He carefully drained the old toilet, and boxed it up for trash removal. When putting together the new toilet, he was very careful to not mark up the floor, by putting cardboard underneath the pieces as he worked. He made sure all the bolts to hold the toilet base were well tightened, checking a few times that the base would not shift or rock. He was very efficient, friendly and knowledgable. I felt very confident in his work, and I'd definitely hire him again for our next plumbing job. We're very happy with our new toilet. Dan gave us a great recommendation, and I've even had friends and family comment on the toilet, saying they'd like to get the same model themselves! He suggested ways to cut down on moving costs, and even brought us used boxes.
The truck arrived on the date requested.
Loading experience:
We did much of the work by ensuring that the only items which needed to be brought down stairs were three mattresses, two twin box springs, and a bureau. Everything else was stacked in a garage that was about 50 feet on level ground from the door of the moving truck. Nevertheless, the process took from 8am until almost 5pm, which seems rather slow compared to previous moving experiences
Once we arrived, we found that NONE of our mattresses had been boxed or protected. There were dark stains and footprints on all of them. Nevertheless, we were charged for supplies to package the mattresses.
On unloading, we found the the loading team did not tag or inventory at least 45 items, including furniture and a propane grill.
There were two other loads on the truck when it arrived at our home. Because of miscalculation on North American's part, there was not sufficient room on the truck for our items. Another truck was sent to retrieve these. We were not aware that these would not arrive at the same time as the rest of our items. As of June 18, they are still in storage in Arizona, and we have not been given a reliable date of delivery. We also did not have an opportunity to decide which items should arrive later, so there are some essential items that we have not received. While it is nice to have our snowblower in June, we would have chosen to have the lawnmower. We have our Christmas items, but not our childrens' bikes. We could have done a much better job of getting the items we needed if we had been able to participate in the process of organizing the shipment.
En route experience: We were told that we would receive a call on the day of loading to advise us about the actual weight of the truck and how much we would have to pay upon delivery. our load out was on a Friday. We did finally receive a call on Monday, while driving cross country, advising us that the driver had stated our weight as 2000 pounds over the estimate. The rep from North American that we spoke with stated that they thought that the driver might be possibly intentionally overstating the weight. No one at North American offered to mediate this or to help in any way. we were told that we could demand a re-weigh. We received a number of comments such as "I'm sorry that this happened", but we were clearly on our own in terms of resolving this issue.
Unloading experience:
We had to meet the driver at a weighing station both before and after the unloading. During the unloading, the driver demanded that we pay the entire amount of HIS initial weight (which was incorrect). It was only after several phone calls to North American, that we were able to get him to accept the agreed upon payment of 110% of the estimated costs. Because we had only prepared a bank check for part of the payment, we had to make two trips to the bank on the day of the move to obtain the cash to release our load. We also had to pay the costs of weighing the truck twice.
Local unloading team was courteous and did a good job.
As it turns out, the actual weight of our shipment was very close to the original estimate. We did not receive an explanation from the driver about why he initially reported a weight of 2000 pounds more.
The driver had received our payment prior to completing the second weigh-in, so it was clear that we had paid more to him than was due. We asked for a receipt so we could them ask North American for a refund on the overpayment, and he told us that he was unable to give us a receipt for our bank check plus cash.
After move experience: It has been five days since our move. We still have no idea when our other items will leave Arizona, let alone arrive here. Each interaction with North American takes multiple phone calls and re-routings in order to find someone who can help us. We have been told that we can receive $200 to compensate us for having to now buy some of the items which are still in storage. We can fill out more paperwork to ask for compensation for items damaged in shipment. There has been no attempt to remedy the inconvenience of the split and delayed shipment or the weighing discrepancy.
I have moved cross-country four times, and have moved at least six times. This is the most unprofessional moving company that I have ever worked with. The minute that there was a problem, we felt that there was no one available to help or follow up on the situation. I was stunned that they would accuse one of their drivers of fraud, yet do nothing to assist a customer whose belongings he was transporting.
The quality of the move itself was sloppy, to put it mildly.
I would not recommend McWhite's North American for any type of moving, but particularly not for an interstate move. The customer service was polite but completely ineffective."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/az/prescott-valley/mc-white%27s-north-american-reviews-2306101.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Best Tile - Vermont","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"VT","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Steven H."},"reviewBody":"Salesperson neglected to factor in and order so-called \"face\" tiles required for visible edge of tub surround. "Robbie did a thorough job of excavating the patio area, laying down gravel and a barrier. I was away the week he started; my neighbor reported he was out there for many hours completing that part of the work. He offered his opinion on enlarging the raised beds surrounded by the patio, advice that resulted in a more esthetically pleasing result, for a very reasonable fee. The finished product is very attractive and has really improved the look of the back yard."

"I was not impressed with this companyâ s work at all. They didnâ t do what they said they were going to do and rushed through the project. We have two cracks in our foundation that we needed repaired and all they did was dig up around the foundation and slap some tar on it. I was told they were going to put stone against the foundation so it would drain right down to the perimeter drain and they didnâ t do it. They just put the clay back. Then the crack in the front they didnâ t dig down deep enough and didnâ t repair from the outside like they said they would. Again they just slapped some tar on it. When they put the material back they didnâ t tamp it as they went back up, so it kept settling and cracking. They took weeks to come back and put grass seed down. The top soil they charged me for they never even got they used stuff I had left over from a different project (which wasnâ t enough). And when I called to complain that they didnâ t tamp it, they had a guy come tamp it. He literally tamped it for 5 mins and spent the rest of the time leaning against the tamp playing on his phone. My step father had to come with his own tamp and it dropped another 5ish inches after he tamped it. And to top it all off the crack in the front still leaks. They didnâ t do anything I asked and didnâ t want to come back to fix/finish anything. I would not recommend them especially for what they call â smallâ jobs. They might of had a lot going on and bit off more then they could chew when they did our project, but they certainly didnâ t make it right either. I was told they would come back and fix the crack in the front and they never did."

FAQs for sand and rock delivery projects in North Hero, VT
Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.
The average cost to mow a lawn is about $125, ranging between $50 and $200 per cutting, depending on yard size. Other cost factors include the shape of your lawn, accessibility, lawn health, type of grass, length of grass, and frequency of the mowing schedule. The cost to cut your grass will also vary depending on where you live. If your landscaper has to maneuver around obstacles or deal with hard to reach areas and steep slopes, this will likely increase your total mowing costs.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Mulch costs anywhere from $30 to $150 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material. Cedar, cypress, and rubber mulch cost anywhere from $100 to $120 per cubic yard. A pro can help you determine the type of mulch most suitable for your landscaping needs.
The cost of a paver patio is $3,800 for a 280-square-foot patio on average. Depending on the patio size, paver material, and design complexity, this cost can range from $2,400 to $7,000 or more.
The size of your patio is a significant factor in the project’s overall cost. If you're building a smaller patio of only 60 square feet, your costs will be closer to $480 to $1,500. If you want a more luxurious 900-square-foot patio, you'll spend closer to $7,200 to $22,500.
