Over a period of 3 weeks they never worked 5 days a week, would show up at odd times, and work only for several hours, then leave. They asked for 1/3 down, made out to the principle Gary Deschamp, not the Company name, and left immediately to go to my bank to cash the check. They did this same thing looking for the second check (way too early), left for the day and took the money. At start of job, they said they "move all wires and pipe" in order to get the job down, however, when a sewer pipe was too close to the wall, they refused to move it, and denied they ever said they move sewer pipes. Mr. Deschamp and his partner used medical excuses to avoid finishing work, and would not provide contacts to confirm any absences; making it appear like a scam operation. The final concern was when they called to say they could not come to work for the foreseeable future because Mr. Deschamp's hospital visit to get a back injection went afowl and he had to be admitted to the hospital because "the doctor had scrapped his spine with the injection needle and they were rushing him into testing." I learned (only after they started work) the Vermont Attorney Generals office had/has 3 seperate complaints on file, the most recent was 3 weeks before they started my job. I had to relieve them of their contract, expecting to get some money back, but they were ready for this--they had produced an itemized list of all work they claimed to have done already which amounted to MORE than the 2/3s payment they had received, and expected to get another $2000 out of me. Two dubious items were $1000 for removal of a 4" diameter tree he said he needed to cut to get his backhoe in, and also $800 to dig a 3 foot length of dirt surrounding a pipe. I lost $12,300 to this unscrupulous company, Green Mountain Jacking. This is a scam operation and consumers would be wise to avoid Green Mountain Jacking, Gary Deschamp, principle owner/operator. We thought there was a skunk living in the crawl space under our house based on an extremely strong odor. As it turned out, there was no skunk, but there was a racoon who probably clashed with the skunk and that is what created the smell. John, from Beltran, came to our house on four different ocassions over several days and set traps but was unable to trap the racoon. On his third time back, it was obvious that the racoon had moved on and was no longer under the house so John went into the crawl space and spent an hour searching every nook and cranny to ensure there were no animals under there and even turned the dirt to help alleviate the skunk smell. He then took our old screen that the racoon had destroyed and built a completely new one using much stronger materials and came back two days later and installed it. Every time he visited our home, John spent time explaining what our options were and was instrumental in educating us on not only skunks and racoons but also other types of pests such as termites.

Mourar's service was excellent by any standard. Sometimes, one receives an estimate from a professional, only to have some less-than-top guys arrive to perform the work. In this instance, the installers were top-flight. First, they arrived on time and did the work on schedule. They were incredibly neat. HVAC involves lots of hauling, cutting holes in walls, ceilings and floors, and running all sorts of vents, gas lines and electrical lines. We were delighted at how carefully everything was done! Everything was explained and and the reasons for selecting among equipment alternatives were carefully justified. I checked on the internet and found that Mourar's information to me was exactly correct. The installers were very, very nice guys - on top of being careful and neat professionals. The installers also pointed out to us some roofing issues that were unrelated to their work. This enabled us to get the problems fixed and avoid costly downstream problems. Overall, Mourar's work was top-flight and minimized the home disruption often associated with major housework. I recommend this company without reservation. Dirt Hauling reviews from real Angi homeowners in North Hero, VT
I have contacted Central VT Construction on 7/19 and received an estimate of between $3000 and $3500 after the owner, Mike, took the measurement based on Google map. I offered him to come and take a look at the driveway in person, however, he declined and said he doesn't need to. I told him...

"I was not impressed with this companyâ s work at all. They didnâ t do what they said they were going to do and rushed through the project. We have two cracks in our foundation that we needed repaired and all they did was dig up around the foundation and slap some tar on it. I was told they were going to put stone against the foundation so it would drain right down to the perimeter drain and they didnâ t do it. They just put the clay back. Then the crack in the front they didnâ t dig down deep enough and didnâ t repair from the outside like they said they would. Again they just slapped some tar on it. When they put the material back they didnâ t tamp it as they went back up, so it kept settling and cracking. They took weeks to come back and put grass seed down. The top soil they charged me for they never even got they used stuff I had left over from a different project (which wasnâ t enough). And when I called to complain that they didnâ t tamp it, they had a guy come tamp it. He literally tamped it for 5 mins and spent the rest of the time leaning against the tamp playing on his phone. My step father had to come with his own tamp and it dropped another 5ish inches after he tamped it. And to top it all off the crack in the front still leaks. They didnâ t do anything I asked and didnâ t want to come back to fix/finish anything. I would not recommend them especially for what they call â smallâ jobs. They might of had a lot going on and bit off more then they could chew when they did our project, but they certainly didnâ t make it right either. I was told they would come back and fix the crack in the front and they never did."

We have been in business for 24 years. Currently we have 7 employees. We work with quality sub-contractors that are reliable. We will give you a quote for your project or time and materials. We love what we do!
"Do yourself a big favor and don't hire this firm! Originally, Armand Morel was hired for a big job, over $200,000, but he was fired only part way into demolition. Armand misrepresented the way he would work and was rude to me, and then, after I felt compelled to fire him, he attempted to overcharge me by over $20,600 for the partial demolition he had accomplished to that point. I had to hire a lawyer who advised me to negotiate a settlement, which involved compromises I found difficult to make. My lawyer and I settled for $15,850 on 12/6/23. Armand still got away with thousands more than he should have been paid--plus I had to then pay a legal bill of roughly $2500. Therefore, not including my time, energy, delayed job, and stress, I was out roughly $7250."

FAQs for dirt hauling projects in North Hero, VT
The kinds of items or materials accepted will vary by hauling company. Some companies will not handle hazardous waste, but hiring ones that do will cost from $5 to $100 or more, depending on what type and quantity of material.
Most companies will haul items such as:
Construction and remodeling waste: $100–$600
Appliances: $50–$600
Furniture: $50–$400
Electronics: $60–$200
Yard waste: $70–$500
Unfortunately, some plumbing scenarios, like a broken sewer pipe repair, will require excavation to complete the job. Plumbing excavation costs range from $30 to $70per cubic foot. However, if you need additional trenching, expect to pay an extra $4 to $12per linear foot. Keep in mind that these costs are on top of the plumbing repair costs, and they don’t account for labor costs. Consult your excavation specialist to determine an accurate estimate for your job.
The cost to hire a professional junk hauling service ranges from $60 to $600, averaging about $270. Your final price is determined by the type of junk, amount of junk, the distance to the dumpsite, and the equipment required to move and haul your items or materials. Keep in mind that construction junk removal is more expensive than hauling household items, so expect to pay $800 for removing large piles of debris.
The average cost for pool excavation is $2,500. This cost can range from $450 to $4,500, depending on the pool shape and size, time of year, and any need to move buried utilities.
When excavating for your pool, you might have to move existing utilities. You can expect to pay an additional $15 to $25per linear foot to move gas lines. To move a septic system, it’ll cost an additional $2,000 to $20,000. A pool that is 10 feet by 12 feet averages $450 to excavate, and a 20-foot-by-40-foot pool averages $3,020.
The cost for residential excavation is $3,200 on average, ranging between $50 and $200per cubic yard. Total costs could range from $500 to $15,000, depending on the project type, yard size, and soil type.
When a project needs an excavator, the contractor will subcontract one as part of the larger project. If you hire an excavation specialist, you can expect to pay between $40 and $180per hour. When excavating, if you have soil with excessive rocks or clay deposits, expect an additional cost of $200 to $1,200.
