"I hired TJL Construction for some tree work that others did not want to tackle. They were very professional and did a great job! Removed all debris and did an amazing job with cleanup. In the case that a tree is growing directly on your property line, the cost of maintaining the tree is shared and is the property of both owners in common. Tree roots can take weeks to years to die, depending on the method you use. Chemical herbicides take the least amount of time—typically between three and four weeks—while homemade methods, like covering an old stump with leaves, could take between seven and eight years. While you may have the right to trim branches that cross into your yard, the fruit on them typically still belongs to your neighbor. However, laws can vary by state and municipality. In some areas, branches that extend into your yard or trees that straddle a property line may entitle you to some of the fruit. The best course of action is to speak with your neighbor, as they may be happy to share. If a conversation is not possible, check your local regulations before picking any fruit.
