I interviewed several contractors but Justin came out personally, did a thorough review and provided a solid bid. The work was outstanding - completely reworked out lawn and flower beds - they now look fabulous. And the crew went over and above adjusting my sprinklers. Highly recommended!

Yes, you can overwater your grass. Depending on your climate, it could be easier than you think. While water is an essential element for lawn growth, too much of it can actually damage its roots, leading to rot and other damage.

Whether your drip irrigation system leaks, it’s been a rainy summer, or you use the sprinkler too often, overwatering your lawn can drive up your water bill and impact the longevity of your lawn.

If you’re wondering when to mow new grass, you should be able to mow roughly eight weeks after seeding or two to four weeks after laying sod. Wait until grass reaches three to four inches in height. Be sure to check the ideal grass height for your particular type of grass, and never mow more than one-third of the grass height at once.

It may not seem like it makes a difference, but nighttime is colder and winds are likely to be stronger. Strong winds will push the water droplets away from the grass, and the temperature will be too low for the water to evaporate, and thus get absorbed by the soil. However, watering the lawn during peak afternoon sun does the opposite, and the water evaporates too quickly.

Fescue grass is a relatively low-maintenance grass type, meaning it doesn’t require much more attention than regular watering, dethatching, and mowing. Some fescues even grow slowly enough for hard-to-reach areas, particularly those inaccessible by the mower.
