Brent is very pleasant to work with, and he was generous with his willingness to follow through with my requests on how to behave around the dogs that I work with. He not only followed my instructions but was careful to fill anyone else in who might be working with him that day. I trust Brent, I would never worry about leaving my home to him. He is concerned about the people he works with, and very much wants to complete a job to the satisfaction of the owner. I did not choose Brent to do the largest project only because of the many requirements of speciality workers needed to complete the job including site excavation, plumbing and septic work, electrical, fencing, as well as building. It was too large for a small business to try to complete in a short period of time but I do not doubt that Brent (given sufficient time) could have put together a group to do the job well. Brent s strongest attribute I believe is his ability to problem solve and create unique spaces. He thinks quickly and clearly spends time while away from the job thinking about the best way to go about a project or solve a problem "},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/nh/plymouth/brent-harlow-designerbuilder-reviews-2058463.htm"},"position":6},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Autowater Irrigation Co Inc","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"VT","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Erin E."},"reviewBody":"The plumber was punctual and answered all of the questions I had. They did the plumbing in the bathroom backwards - hot was cold, cold was hot, and had to hire someone to fix this. I had 500 square feet of porcelain tile installed. The work that he did for this was poorly done. According to the contractor that replaced it, this was shoddy workmanship. Within days, the tile was shifting and the grout was coming out in chunks. I was told that this would be under warranty for a year, under state law. He sent his carpenter back 3 times to replace single tiles and re-do the grout. Finally after the third time, they were unprofessional and rude over the phone to me. They were not willing to work with me to solve the problem. I stopped speaking with him at this point, when I realized he wouldn't do anything. We found a contractor after a year, because of the issues, and they did the job the correct way. I was getting the run around from the contractor about where the tile was bought to replace. I finally was able to get more and was taken care of. The realtor told us that Cilley Plumbing had winterized the plumbing and heating (hot water) systems both years in the fall (before the weather turned cold), so we should contact them to turn it all back on. We set up an appointment, but Cilley's men arrived early, but didn't wait for us to arrive (they were let in by other workman). The worker turned a switch on the boiler system for one zone of the three zone house. There is no pilot to light. When we arrived, the worker then said there wasn't enough anti-freeze fluid in the system to run all three zones. When Cilley was contacted about the shortage of anti-freeze fluid in the system (remember he had winterized it), he said someone must have snuck into the house over the winter and drained the anti-freeze out of our system (located on the Main Street of a town of 1400, with neighbors all around, no footprints in snow, etc). Cilley's worker took the only manual to the boiler system as well as a wall thermostat so he could study up on it because he didn't know how to work it (we assumed they'd be back) and has yet to return them. When the house started warming because of a portable heater the carpenters were using, one of the upstairs radiators Cilley had supposedly \"winterized\" thawed, cracked and leaked water all over our house, damaging flooring and the ceiling below. We now have to pay someone else to repair that damage.. as well as the broken radiator. Cilley denied that he was responsible for breaking the radiator, even though he was the only one who had done any work on the house while it was on the market. Now Cilley has sent us a bill for $170--which includes $110 for turning on the boiler system, then an additional half hour of labor for each of two workers--the guy who flipped the switch and the guy who watched him flip the switch. We have still to get our manual or our thermostat back from them. Needless to say, neither we nor any of our family will be working with Cilley again. The other tradesmen who were in the house at the time (and let Cilley's guys in) still talk about incompetent \"work\" Cilley's crew did--those carpenters won't ever be using Cilley in the future either."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/nh/dover/john-cilley-plumbing-and-heating-reviews-2065400.htm"},"position":10}]}
Plumbing Handyman Service reviews from real Angi homeowners in Brownsville, VT

"I strongly caution anyone considering doing business with this company. I gave them a deposit of $4,428.65, and when I canceled a week later they kept almost $900 of it even though my service was not for another 6 weeks. You do sign a very simple, clearly stated document that says: should you cancel beyond three business days, you understand your deposit is non-refundable. Northern Basements may choose to refund depending on cancellation circumstances I fully acknowledge that I canceled a few days outside that window, but I hoped an honest company that cares about customers and referrals would choose to provide a full refund. I am a sucker for hoping that. They chose to risk my impression, referral, and review for $885.53. If nothing else comes out of this, I hope everyone reading at least goes in knowing that this statement on their contract is a real threat and your deposit is a hostage. Even Air b and bs offer full refunds on deposits within just a few days of their arrival date. 3 days to cancel with service not scheduled for 6 weeks out, Come on man. No materials were used. No service workers time was taken. The manager justified the 20% withholding as credit card fees, restocking fees, time and resources for the estimate, and administrative fees. I wholly accepted responsibility for the credit card fees and time of Paul, the gentleman who performed the assessment, and I offered to settle at 10%. I still believe any reputable company would have provided a full refund at this point in a project, or at most deduct the credit card fees because nothing more went into this beyond what would have normally been a free estimate. The further arguments the manager made for the additional fees were the scheduling of their team and the allocation of materials for my project. Complete nonsense, especially when the project was not set for 6 weeks away. Because they had my deposit hostage, they had control over how much they decided they wanted to keep, it was completely arbitrary, and they kept almost $900 of my money without providing anything. If they wanted to cover their credit card transaction fees, fine, at most 6%, but the rest is absolute robbery. The only solace I can find in this loss of almost $900 now is that I did not spend another $13,000 with them. I tried to call Paul after speaking with the manager to ask if he could do me a favor and try to reason with the manager on my behalf because he seemed nice enough. No answer. No callback. I will never seek out their services again and I will actively discourage others from doing so but, based on my experience, I expect they do not care."

"This is a very professional and high quality company. They completed the countertops in two days. The epoxy had a flaw from the manufacturer and they come back immediately and re surfaced it. The counters look like glass. The price was reasonable. We are very happy with the result. The only negative is they could have done a better job cleaning up."

Most people tend to use outdoor spigots more frequently in the summer. Watering plants, filling kiddie pools, having neighborhood water fights, and washing cars and pets are all outdoor activities people do when it's hot and sunny. The heat causes the pipes to expand, weakening the metal and creating cracks. The sudden spike in water use combined with this effect is why pipes burst often in the summer.
It’s possible to snake minor drain clogs yourself, provided they sit within a foot or two of the drain itself, but it’s usually best to hire a professional plumber regardless. Even experienced DIYers have a high chance of accidentally pushing the clog further into the drain using a drain snake or another tool, so hiring a plumber is the ideal course of action. A professional plumber can use camera equipment to locate and identify the clog, and remove the entire blockage to fix your issue permanently.
The diverter valve in your bathtub is responsible for diverting water between your tub spout and your shower head. If water comes out of both at the same time, you have a faulty diverter valve. You can have a plumber replace this for you, or you can replace it yourself if you have some experience working with plumbing fixtures.
Common problems include leaks, clogs, and low water pressure. Regular maintenance prevents major disruptions.
Most of the time, homeowners are responsible for replacing a main water shut-off valve. This is because the property owner also owns the water service line from the shut-off valve near their property line to their house. That means they must maintain, repair, or replace it when needed.
