ASR showed up a week later, as agreed, with a strong crew of 8 or 9 guys and all the equipment you would expect with a professional crew. They removed the whole existing driveway down to the base gravel, put down a couple good layers of rock and packed it with the steam roller to ensure a great base. Then came the asphalt and they laid it down perfectly. By that I mean the surface was smooth and consistent from end to end and side to side. The edges were straight from end to end. And most importantly, it sloped away from the house so drainage is never going to be a problem. They also did a little bit of landscaping for me with the dirt that they removed for the extension piece, leveling it with their equipment and raking it smooth. All I have to do is throw down some grass seed. The landscaping piece was beyond my expectations. All their guys were friendly and professional, answering all my questions. When they were done, they picked up everything and left the place spotless. They new driveway is absolutely beautiful and certainly enhance the appearance and value of my home. Some of my neighbors, including the guy across the street from me, recently had similar work done by a less expensive paving company. Their completed jobs were nothing like mine and have significant flaws which detract from the appearance of their homes. When they see this job, they are not going to be too happy because theirs really looks bad now! Thanks a ton to Lyn Twine Jr., Lyn Twine Sr. and the who crew from ASR. I'm a happy guy. The house was full of packed boxes and possessions from my late sister?s home as I was going through them and preparing things to take to the thrift store of a no-kill shelter. Among the boxes was a small, white tourister suitcase filled with sliver dollars saved by my sister throughout her life from childhood to be donated to an animal foundation at her death.
One of the bedrooms was to be painted ?Priscilla Pink?, a light medium pink shade. The color used instead was the color of pepto bismol. I had to pay an additional $100 to get Mr. Nester to change the color , and I still never got the color I had specified. I had a paint card and a pint of the actual color I bough from the paint store to help Mr. Nester and he still never approached the color I requested.
A shelf was removed from the wall of one bedroom during the painting. Huge holes were made where the screws had been. The repair was never made. The holes were left.
In early winter of 2010, I hired Mr. Nester to come back and paint the exterior of our white frame 2-story home. We had always used water-base paint which is what I requested, but Mr. Nester took the liberty to use oil-based paint.
I had requested the concrete bird bath be painted. Mr. Nester painted it and the polyresin bird bath and I had to pay for both of them.
I asked that the bottom of the concrete porch be painted white. The white paint had several brown steaks running down. I asked Mr. Nester to paint over the brown streaks but he never did.
Because I own 4 properties and had requested work on them, I gave Mr. Nester keys to all 4 of the properties. He told me he could do home repairs as well as paint.
One of my properties had a leak in the metal roof. I called a contractor, J.W. Barton, who told me his fee would be between $4,000 and $5,000, depending on how much rotten wood he found once he got into the work.
Mr. Nester said he could fix the repair and do it immediately, so I gave him the job to him. I explained I wanted a thorough, complete job. When he finished the job, I asked him if he fixed everything. He told me, ?yes.? I paid him $1,500 on June 24, 2010, and $2,500 on July 6, 2010, for the roof.
Because our house was very full of my late sister?s belongings, I did not realize until much later that the suitcase of silver dollars was missing. Mr. Nester had said he found my door unlocked. I was suspicious of him telling me that because I knew I had never left the door unlocked. I even made the comment that maybe the rough teenager across the street had taken the suitcase to see if he would make a response, but he said nothing.
In the summer of 2011, the metal roof had rain water gushing through. The contractor I had originally contacted for the repair, J. W. Barton, said no rotten wood had been replaced. Everything had not been fixed. It was not a thorough, complete job. Mr. Barton says the damage is now so extensive that the repair fee is now $6,000.
I found Mr. Nester?s company, Christian Painting, in the yellow pages. He ad said, ?No Drugs, No Alcohol.? When 2 of his men came to see me, they told me he bought huge quantities of crack which I had begun to suspect because of his speech, attitude, and behavior. The men also told me he went through everything in my house.
My vacuum cleaner was damaged during the painting. Mr. Nester said he aid insurance, but never had my vacuum repaired.
Mr. Nester has no state license. He has an ?F? rating with the Better Business Bureau and a record of not responding to complaints.
I have no contact with Mr. Nester. I have asked for the keys to my 4 properties, but he will not return them. He said he would call and arrange to meet with me, but never did.
It is my hope that this information will save someone else from making the poor choice I did in choosing a painting contractor who says he can also do repair jobs, is a Christian who purchases crack, doesn?t answer or return calls, and keeps the keys to the properties he works on."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/va/roanoke/christian-painting-co-reviews-6582341.htm"},"position":9}]}
Wallpaper Removal reviews from real Angi homeowners in Vinton, VA
They did a good job, on time, courteous and professional. They replaced 3 hot water heaters. They relocated one hot water heater a few feet from its original location and removed a faulty pressure regulator. But they charged me $500 extra for doing these 2 things without advising me first....
So far we are happy. They do a yearly expection and provide a lifetime guarantee. They came out, did an expection to verify that we had termites. Then they did the removal.

"Bottom Line: We have used Iboy Construction Services (ICS) for multiple electrical, carpentry, and low-level remodeling projects, but this was the first time for detailed carpentry work associated with crown molding. They again did excellent work for a reasonable price, and more importantly, built a huge amount of trust with the customer. Communication: Scheduling the initial estimate was easy and timely communication continued throughout the process. Scoping Work: This is probably the most important first step in any project and often messed up. Enrique has the requisite skills to listen and understand what the customer desires and provide detailed advice and options. For this project, we needed professional-level carpentry to absolutely minimize any gaps between molding joints, the ceiling, and the walls – essentially a caulkless project. I had already done as much prep work as possible to square corners, but some tricky detailed cuts were going to be required. Quality of Work: Frankly, 75-80% of contractors fail here for three primary reasons: a horrible handoff of details from the estimator to the onsite project foreman, project foreman and/or workers making assumptions vice asking the customer, and lack of quality detailed work. You do not normally have that problem with ICS as it’s a small business, and Enrique is involved during every part of the process. In this case, he sent his carpentry expert, who did an excellent job, with one joint requiring some caulking. The end product was beautiful. Pricing: Price was the best of three highly ranked Angie’s List companies. ICS’s expertise, practical scoping, willingness to explain the details of the project, timely communication, and excellent work took the hassle out of this project."

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts
White walls are considered a classic and timeless look and will most likely always be in style. A white wall easily blends into any type of home decor style which makes it a suitable option for most homeowners. Another appealing quality about white walls is that if it's not a color someone is going for, the color is easy to paint over.
Wallpaper lasts an average of around 15 years, but there is some variance. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.
To remove pre-pasted wallpaper, you’ll need to wet the wallpaper or steam it to loosen the paste on the back of the wallpaper. Spray the paper with water, then let it soak for 10 to 20 minutes. From there, you should be able to peel off the wallpaper. Then, you may need to follow up with a cleaning solution and a scraper to remove any remaining wallpaper paste on the walls.
It is possible to remove wallpaper yourself, but it’s typically better to leave the work to a professional. Some types of wallpaper can prove to be a real challenge to remove, and the process is labor intensive regardless, so most homeowners prefer to save themselves time and frustration by hiring a pro. Professional wallpaper companies have special tools like steamers and the experience to use them effectively without damaging the drywall behind it, which can get damaged if it gets too wet. Hiring a pro gets the job done quickly and minimizes the wall prep you’ll need to do afterward.
Most experts would not recommend hanging wallpaper over existing wallpaper more than twice. Even if the walls are in good condition and primed well, that third layer of wallpaper could cause problems with adhesion. Unless you like bubbling paint and peeling wallpaper as an interior design choice, it’s better to remove at least one existing layer before adding any more to a wall.
