"They were absolutely fantastic.  The estimate process was very straight-forward, and the price was by far the lowest.  It was a small job that they could fit in between bigger projects, but they were very accommodating of my scheduling needs.  The job was done very fast and very well.  I will definitely hire them again in the future.

"Jeff showed up on time and did his work professionally. He recommended replacing 4 vent covers due to splitting or rotting and gave me an estimate for that. He was gentlemanly and well-informed, didn't try to upsell things that weren't needed. I was aware of the deteriorating vent flanges because I had recently had my chimney cover replaced and the pro who did that notified me of their condition. I felt like Mighty Hands did what they were contracted to do in a way that made me confident of their work."

"    When we decided to have our windows replaced, we got estimates from several reputable companies. Neither my husband nor I know much about windows, and after the rep from one company left, we still didn't. He didn't explain much of anything, just basically tossed a price at us and left. We were discouraged.
Then Angelo Collins, co-owner of Window Depot, arrived, and by the time he left, we felt like window experts. He brought in a sample window, explained everything about it, explained about lead abatement (for houses built before the late 70's), told us about their manufacturer, explained all about the warranty, and then gave us a price that blew everyone else out of the competition. We were sold.
The windows were ready in a few weeks, and the installation was scheduled for July 7th. Cory (the lead installer) and his very competent partner (I wish I knew his name) showed up exactly on time, got right to work, and I was astonished at how fast it all went. These guys have it down to a science. They were extremely pleasant, conscientious about not leaving any mess, and did their very best to protect the shrubs beneath the windows.
The job would have been completed in one day if only the thunderstorms had held off for another hour. But, with only 3 more windows to wrap, the sky opened up and they were rained out. The next morning, they came back early, while we were at work, and finished up. We came home to a beautiful house, with all new windows, and not even one tiny shred of trash left behind. They even took the old awnings and disposed of them for us.
From beginning to end, our experience with Window Depot was uncomplicated and professional, and it was a real pleasure dealing with them. The windows are perfectly installed, high quality, and everyone seemed dedicated to maintaining a very high standard of customer satisfaction.
I highly recommend calling them if you have the need for any of the services they provide. As a matter of fact, now we need a new front door to go with our new windows. I'm not even going to call anyone else for a price. I'm just going to call Window Depot. I know I won't be sorry. You won't either. They're awesome!"

"Had a special function at my house. The team was on time and completed the job working sun up to sun down. I added more jobs as he completed the initial job. My backyard is beautiful with ponds and water fountains and beautiful flower beds. My deck and patio was pressure washed, cleaned and painted a beautiful color. Highly recommend this team that provides a special touch."

"We cannot say enough great things about the Gillen Company. We hired them to make various repairs and renovations to our rental property in order to get it ready to sale. We live 3 hours away and was a little apprehensive about going through the process long distance. We met with Tim Gillen the owner, and was very pleased with his professionalism and courtesy. He understood our need to make the renovations in a timely matter so that we could put the house on the market as soon as possible. He suggested and then started the outside renovations first before the tenants moved out in order to get a jump on the project .He was slated to start the indoor renovations on Oct 1st, the day after the tenants moved out. We got word that the tenants were leaving a week early. I called Tim to see if he could start earlier then Oct 1st and he was in to start the renovations the very afternoon the tenants vacated. We are so pleased with all the work he has completed. He even fixed small things that he found without charging us extra. He stayed in constant contact with us sending pictures and updates as things were finished. When we needed services preformed that was beyond his scope of work, he recommended companies to us that provided outstanding services also.  We spoke with Courtny his secretary on several occasions and she was very courteous and helpful. The house was finished within two weeks, we put it on the market Oct 4th and we had a contract on it within a week and a half. When the inspection report came in with a few things the prospective buyers wanted done, our realtor called Tim and he was in the next day completing the task. We cannot convey how very pleased we are. We know without a doubt Tim was instrumental in getting our house on the market and sold so fast. We absolutely recommend him!!

Awnings questions, answered by experts

Metal awnings last much longer than fabric thanks to their durability and resistance to fading, sun damage, and damage from the outside elements. They also need less maintenance than fabric options. Both items add curb appeal to your home, but you shouldn't expect either type of awning to add property value to your home.

It’s not a good idea to allow heavy rain to fall on your awning, as puddling can occur and overload the awning. Your awning should be able to handle a light rain, though you should allow it to dry out before retracting it or open it to dry as soon as the rain stops. As always, consult manufacturer guidelines for using and caring for your awning.

Yes, you can install an awning yourself, and it can be an excellent DIY project with immediate benefits. This is most feasible for smaller, pre-assembled units. However, awnings are often heavy and awkward for one person to handle, so you should always have at least one helper. If you have difficulty lifting heavy objects, professional installation is recommended to ensure proper mounting and durability.

To ensure the installation process goes smoothly, it's wise to ask a potential pro several questions. Key topics to cover include:

  • Licensing and Insurance: Do you have a professional license and insurance to perform this work? This is crucial as installing an awning into a home's exterior can be a complex job.

  • Cost Estimate: What was the price of similar jobs you've completed? Awning installation costs can vary based on size, design, and location, so this helps establish a general price range.

  • Project Timeline: How long will this project take to complete? Getting an estimated timeline provides peace of mind, even though unforeseen hurdles can occur.

  • Building Permits: Will I need a building permit for this project, and who is responsible for obtaining it? An experienced local contractor will be knowledgeable about local rules and regulations.

  • References and Portfolio: Do you have references from previous clients or photos of completed projects? Speaking with past clients and seeing previous work can give you insight into their experience and the quality of their work.

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.
