"We had damaged asbestos tile in our basement, discovered when we tore up the carpet to do a basement renovation. We called Young at the advice of the person who tested the tile. Young was quick to schedule and handled the removal beautifully. Very pleased."

"The crew were great- very efficient and also very nice and polite. They removed asbestos from pipes where it was possible to do so and sealed the ends where they could not remove all the asbestos. The work and cleanup afterward were thorough."

"From beginning to end, D&D made every effort to solve my very difficult problem/"surprise" at finding asbestos under the linoleum that became visible when a repair was being made to the damage done to my kitchen floor caused by a leaky dishwater. Their price was significantly less than other companies and couldn't have been done any better at twice the price. The difference was enough to pay for the materials needed to replace my floor and for this I am very grateful."

"I was in a bind and needed the asbestos removed from my basement immediately in order to proceed with the installation of the floor. I called on a Friday and he came out for an estimate that day and offered to come back on Sunday due to the time sensitivity of the need. Not only was it a fair quote, the work quality was great and was done on a day. He kept me updated with pictures and texts and was personable and professional. I would highly recommend him."

"I am so glad we found Omar and K&M! We hired K&M twice now to remove asbestos tile from our basement in preparation of a renovation. Omar is friendly and responsive and his team did an excellent job of working efficiently and cleaning up after the jobs were complete. I highly recommend K&M for this service and will give them a call back if we can use their construction services in the future!"

"This company was on the list of companies registered with Montgomery County. After the initial phone call, I was able to setup an appointment to coincide with the Abatement company that removed the tiles. All went very smooth and Maxximus representative was present throughout the day and explained all that he was doing. Very satisfied customer."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

When asbestos damages the lungs it causes a condition called “asbestosis” which, unfortunately, can’t be cured once it’s damaged the lungs. This condition is chronic and any treatment is undertaken to improve quality of life. This usually involves quitting smoking, being prescribed oxygen, and undergoing lung rehab. Severe cases usually require a lung transplant.

Walking on an asbestos roof can pose a risk. Asbestos roofing materials can become brittle over time, increasing the chances of them breaking or releasing fibers when stepped on. Additionally, walking on an asbestos roof without proper precautions can cause further damage to the material. If possible, avoid touching an asbestos roof in any way and consult with a professional about removing and replacing the roof.

You are not really supposed to seal asbestos with paint, but in theory it could work—the caveat being that this is extremely dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. The only real way to seal asbestos is with the professional application of an encapsulating material like epoxy. Due to the negative effect asbestos can have on your home, however, it is usually the best course of action to accept a costly fix and remove the material entirely.

Epoxying over asbestos tiles is generally considered a safe option when done correctly. Epoxy acts as a sealant, encapsulating the asbestos tiles and preventing the release of asbestos fibers into the air. The key is ensuring that the asbestos tiles are in good condition, firmly adhered to the substrate, and not damaged or deteriorating. This method is only appropriate for tiles that are undamaged and securely in place. If the asbestos tiles are already loose, damaged, or deteriorating, encapsulating them with epoxy may not be a sufficient solution, as it might not address the potential for ongoing asbestos exposure.

If you think you’ve touched asbestos, do not put on a mask. This is important because you may take the asbestos fibers on your hands on trap them in the mask. Make your way to a sink and wash your hands thoroughly. Remove any clothes and seal them in a bag, then take a shower. Call your doctor and let them know you’ve been exposed to asbestos, and make sure you see them as soon as possible. The reason you keep the clothes is in case anyone wants to confirm the presence of asbestos.
