"Ben was a pleasure to work with.

Even though this was not a big project, he was always prompt
and responsive.  He answered all our questions, was very fair
with pricing...the tile was somewhat labor intensive...and he
always left our house clean.

Very professional and a gentlemen.

Spectacular!

"Jason and company installed a very instructed kitchen floor using 12" x 12" and 6" x 6" porcelain tiles layed on a diagonal windmill pattern. It would not have been such an accomplishment had it been an empty room, however kitchen cabinets and an island made the job that much harder. The result was a piece of art! When the grout dried unevenly in color, he stood by his work and fixed what was the result of a manufacturing issue, with no questions asked. He is very meticulous and detail-oriented, not to mention friendly and courteous. We have already recommended him to several friends and will continue to do so."

"Falcon Renovations provides quality craftsmanship and workmanship that is both creative and elegant as well as concentrated and focused whether a touch up or a whole project completion. Suggestions are offered to locate best price points for paint, wood and supplies for clean lines and an exciting finish. with a thoughtful review of what is most effective regarding the safety of home and what could potentially be hazardous. I have never found Falcon's suggestions to be anything but outstanding while their respect for our home improvement ideas was always what they worked to accomplish. They are talented. Becca Mick is a wonderful professional to work with and the Owner, Donald Grantham, is A+ in everything with respect to a home from carpentry, to electricity and plumbing, lighting, fixtures, decks, and heating, painting, and appliances Mr. Grantham did a couple times protect us from what may have become overextended and unnecessary interventions going on in the house at the same time he was working. He is always kind, professional, patient, and provides the highest quality work at the most affordable price that is competitive. Many times Falcon performed extra work that had been in need of repair for many months, and without a charge. I highly recommend this Donald Grantham and his group of talented professional people,"

"Treated myself to a Big Deal for $99 (6 hrs of cleaning, or 3hrs with 2 people). This is the 2nd time I’ve had someone clean my house, the previous time was also an Angie’s List Big Deal, about 2 years ago. I was so pleased with their services. Paula and her co-worker worked diligently and left my house sparkling. I have a split level home, about 1,500 square feet, occupied by 4 adults and a furry dog. When Paula arrived we discussed my priorities. They were the 3 bathrooms (one was especially in rough shape) and the kitchen. I told her anything else would be bonus as far as I was concerned. They did a great job with the bathrooms and the kitchen, and on top of that vacuumed the living/dining room, hallway & stairs, and mopped the tile floor in my family room. It was so wonderful to have this taken care of before the holiday season."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Tiles last for around 100 years or more. Tiles on backsplashes can last even longer since they’re less likely to crack under foot traffic or from accidental drops, but even tile in high-traffic flooring can last a century or more with proper installation and upkeep. Porcelain tiles are denser and stronger than standard ceramic tiles, so they’ll last longer, often pushing past the 100-year mark.

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.

There are no unbreakable rules of design, but experts recommend against using large tiles in areas with poor subflooring where they’re more prone to cracking, in areas where the floor isn’t entirely level, over raised areas or dips, and in bathrooms where budget is the primary concern. The size of your bathroom shouldn’t be a reason not to use large tiles; in fact, larger tiles, also known as slab tiles, can be a modern and sleek choice for bathroom floors and walls.

Yes, you can tile a shower as a DIY project, and you can save hundreds of dollars in labor costs by doing so. However, you’ll need to rent or buy quite a few tools and supplies for the job, including a saw, tile nippers, and a new shower pan. In terms of the work itself, you should be prepared to tackle a variety of different tasks, including measuring and ordering materials, removing old tile, waterproofing the wall, adding rows of tile, grouting, and more.
