"Excellent! We recently moved into a 40 year old house. There was a lot of gunk built up in the kitchen drain & it was clogged. The Wisler service man, Bobbie, worked really hard to get it cleaned out. We have always been very happy with the service we receive from Wisler Plumbing, & today was no exception!"

"Great communication with dispatch to schedule work and notify me of tech’s departure and expected arrival. Jason showed up with his apprentice on time. I explained the work I wanted done and he gave me pricing before beginning work on my 12 year old 80 gallon tank. I asked him to drain the tank, check the heating elements and thermostats and replace the anode rod. He completed the work to my satisfaction and answered all my questions. Should be good for another 5 years."

I like what I do. Always something different, and always meeting new people. I've been doing plumbing/handyman services for over 35 years, and I still learn something almost every day. My work has carried me all over Virginia, and my customers have always called me for more work when they needed it.\nI like that. If I don't know something, I'll find out, or, I'll pass it on to someone who knows. \n I'm not afraid to bet you'll be happy with whatever I do for you.

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Anything from debris, rust, ice, and even poor installation can cause clogs in your plumbing vents. Some signs of a clog include slow drains, gurgling sounds in drains and toilets, and bad odors. The bad odors are the most concerning, as these can include methane and hydrogen sulfide. Contact a plumber to come take a look if you notice any of these signs.

A liquid drain cleaner can sometimes make a clog worse over time if you use it improperly or too much. The chemicals in drain cleaners can corrode and damage pipes, causing cracks and leaks that may cause further blockages. If the clog is more than the liquid drain cleaner can handle, the cleaner will simply add chemicals to a bigger overall problem.

Bleach isn’t likely to help unclog a sewer line. Bleach isn’t useful in this situation because it won’t dissolve the grime and debris in the clog. Instead, you want to use ingredients that will have a chemical reaction to clear out the buildup, like vinegar or salt and baking soda.

It is safe to flush small amounts of bleach down the toilet. Don’t flush more than ¼ cup of bleach. Instead, consider diluting it and pouring it down the sink drain.

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.
