"Very well. They got all the permits, contacted the city to mark all the utility lines and finished in 1 day. They came to the house to inspect our current line and provided and estimate that same afternoon. We were very pleased that the work was finished in 1 day and we did not have to remove any plants from the front yard. They repaired the sidewalk before they left and cleaned up the area."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes—your local septic company can clean your septic leach lines with a sewer jetter, a device that pumps high-pressure water through the lines to blast out any clogs and scum buildup. Unless there’s a clog or blockage in the lines, however, you do not need to perform this maintenance regularly. Do not attempt to clean your own leach lines, as you could easily damage them, leading to very costly repairs.

The cost varies from $150 to $600, depending on the severity of the clog, pipe access, and required equipment.

Start by pouring hot—but not boiling—water down the drain. The heat of the water may be enough to break down the clog. You can also try ½ cup of dish soap or 1 cup each of white vinegar and baking soda. If you choose a chemical unclogging product, ensure it’s appropriate for toilets to avoid damage.

Yes, many services include camera inspections to identify the cause of the blockage. Confirm with your provider.

While you don’t have to run out and immediately buy a new toilet at the first sign of a clog, if the toilet keeps clogging because it’s a low-flow or poorly designed model, a new toilet may be the way to go. If your toilet keeps clogging, you can try using less toilet paper, adjusting the fill valve, checking the toilet vent pipe on the roof, and using a toilet auger to make sure nothing is stuck in the pipe or trap.
