Over 20 years ago, Rob Hetrick, owner of HPI, began a small painting company to help support his growing family. He made sure he always took the time to recognize exactly what the client had in mind and to understand all their expectations. If there was something that a prospective customer wanted that he was unsure of, he went out and learned the process completely before committing to the job. After more than twenty years, Rob has gained a vast knowledge of the painting business and keeps himself updated regularly with the improvements in both methods and product in this ever-advancing industry. Rob keeps his crew learning, too, and also tries to educate potential clients with this information as it pertains to their individual job so that they, the customer, will have a fuller understanding of what he and his crew will be doing. Additional phone - (804) 745-3822, (804) 762-0468. Additional DBA - H P I. Additional email - [email protected]. Award winning.

"We used Hetrick to paint our deck and it was a complete disaster. They charged us twice as much as the original quote because they said the wood really drank the paint and they used more that they thought. In less than 1 year it started peeling and hasn't stopped. You can see from the pictures it is not scratches. It is the paint cleanly coming off the wood. The only follow up was a guy from spectrum telling me the quality of stain isn't what it used to be. Rob never followed up with me after that. I guess I am supposed to just accept that after paying a fortune for the job. The final price was almost twice what he quoted and what others quoted. I don't know if it is quality of the paint or bad application, but either way they left me with the disaster to fix and of course kept the ridiculous amount of money I paid for it. Hopefully this helps others to avoid the same mistake."

Wallpaper Removal questions, answered by experts

You may end up with extra wallpaper once your project is finished. Hang on to that wallpaper, as you may need to use it to patch up areas that get damaged later on. If you have a lot of excess wallpaper, try getting creative with it. You can use it to line the inside of a cabinet or drawers, for example.

Wallpaper steamers can be very helpful for removing large sections of wallpaper more easily, but they’re not always a good idea for DIYers. The drywall behind your wallpaper is meant to stay dry, and excessive moisture from improper technique with a wallpaper steamer can leave you with severe wall damage. Drywall also retains moisture, which could result in mold growth over time. It’s best to hire a professional to remove your wallpaper with a steamer to avoid wall damage and related moisture issues.

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn’t last quite as long as traditional wallpaper. The life span of peel-and-stick wallpaper is about five years, depending on the quality of the wallpaper and how well you prep the wall before applying. The good news is that, because of its shorter lifespan, peel-and-stick wallpaper is a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.

Many peel-and-stick wallpapers aren’t moisture-resistant, so if you install them in high-humidity rooms, mold can grow behind the wallpaper. It’s best to reserve peel-and-stick wallpaper for bedrooms, living rooms, and other rooms with lower humidity levels. Not only does this minimize the risk of mold growth, but it also keeps the wallpaper from bubbling or peeling.

Rubbing alcohol may help dissolve stubborn wallpaper adhesive that remains after removal, but be sure to apply it carefully to prevent damaging your walls. Apply a small amount using a cotton swab or pad, then gently scrape or wipe the adhesive away.
