"I hired Gregg’s Gardens in September of 2021 for a landscaping project. Tasks included: Removal of weeds, sticks, existing Azaelas, landscape timbers, etc. from planting beds, excavating / enlarging planting beds, creating a new planting bed off my deck, installing new plants in front / back yard, adding mulch to beds, and aerating, seeding, and fertilization of my yard. All work was done as promised, in a timely manner, and at the end of the project, all debris was removed and taken off site. AC Gregg was very professional, communicated effectively, and returned all phone calls in a timely manner. I had researched several companies before hiring Gregg’s Gardens, and went with them because they offered a more competitive price, and also had good reviews on Angi’s List. When a few plants had problems later on, per our agreement, AC did not hesitate to replace them - no questions asked. They do quality work, at a reasonable price, and offer outstanding customer service. I highly recommend them and would use them again. In fact, I did use them again, just this week (3/23/22). I hired them for another project, to add a few more plants, and to install new mulch to the flower beds. Once again, I was very satisfied with their work."

"I needed my backyard leveled to the point where I could maintain it myself after a long period of inattention. They removed a deep layer of old pine and pin oak debris then mowed and removed the weeds and vines. I can now walk in my backyard and focus on it's renewal - likely with the help of Santana and Sons."

"Yard Plus is an excellent company to do business with thanks to its owner. He promptly called me and we agreed on a date & time to meet. He arrive on time and I received a great quote within hours following our meeting. After I excepted the quote and within a week or so, my project was completed. The entire work crew were very customer service oriented and we're pleased with the results. I would highly recommend Yard Plus to my neighbors and my friends for their next project."

"Our front yard had just become about a half acre of mess with mostly weeds, moss and bare spots. Mr Hernandez scraped it all off, brought in top soil and graded the yard. He installed a 4 zone sprinkler system, then seeded. The grass looks wonderful now. I wish we hadn’t spent so many years doing the weed and feed thing twice a year, aerating and reseeding again and again with miserable results. We should have called Mr Hernandez years ago! I will definitely be calling him again to do some landscaping and work in our back yard."

"This company was great from the start. They came out on Memorial Day to make an estimate of the job. The price was very reasonable to clean up an overgrown yard, weed some areas, and trim some shrubs. The crew arrived promptly this morning and got all the work done in a short time. It looks great--better than anyone else we have ever hired. I highly recommended these folks!"

"Called us immediately. Was very polite. Came out the next day and texted before coming. Price was exact as quote and they did a quick and fine job. Gave us advice about what else would need repairs in the future and what did not. Excellent service. Absolutely recommend."

The cost to reseed or overseed a lawn is about $1,050 on average, ranging from $450 to $1,700, depending on lawn size, seed type, and location. Popular seed types for residential lawns include bahia, fescue, and Bermuda. Keep in mind that it costs $0.10 to $0.20 per square foot to seed or overseed a lawn. Additional cost factors may include:
Fertilization: $80–$400
Soil testing: $700–$2,100
Yard cleanup and leaf removal: $200–$560
Treating weeds: $110–$325
Mowing: $50–$210
On average, the cost of lawn fertilization is $250, ranging from $80 to $400, depending on the size of the lawn, its current condition, additional treatments, number of applications, fertilizer type, and location. Keep in mind that labor, tools, and equipment make up 80% to 90% of the total cost of lawn fertilization. Additional lawn treatment options include:
Lime treatment: $100–$150 per 1,000 square feet
Crabgrass treatment: $30–$80
Grub treatment: $30–$80
Mulching: $150–$400
Dethatching: $265–$295
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
