"We wanted to try a local contractor and came across Evergreen by chance.  It was an excellent experience.  Thad was knowledgeable and professional and easy to work with.  The crew was exactly the same.  Nice, respectful, competent.  The worked around my crazy schedule as we had other improvements going on.  They had a slight delay in getting the generator as there was a back order, but called and let us know and we worked around it.  Laurie in the office was equally good and kept us in communication on details or things to do and schedule etc.  I could not be more happy with the experience on such a big purchase.  They were always accommodating and helpful.  The Generator and switch were high quality and I think the price was fair.  They even did some easy side things for us for no charge.  We will definitely use them again soon to install an attic fan."

"I was very pleased with the interactions with the customer service representative in the early stage. I was also pleased with the installationi process. The fan was installed on the scheduled date and works as it should. The cost was comparable to other quotes."

"Arrived on 5/29/2014 to check bathroom fan that was not working.  Took it to find a replacement.  Same day, fixed a garbage disposal.  Came back next day with a new motor.  Also took shoes off before walking on the carpet.  Also gave specific time rather than a window."

"I said I would use this company again and I did.  They are professional, personable and hard working.  They tried to limit the inconvenience to our family as the whole house was being painted.  The painting involved drywall patchwork, about 7 or 8 room colors and variations of trim/ceiling paint colors to match original colors.  Right before work started, I added on the popcorn ceiling removal and they were able to accommodate that request.  The owner kept me updated on the progress and expectations for the following day at the end of each work day.  Great reliable company and I will continue to use them!"

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Ceiling fans require periodic cleaning of blades to avoid dust accumulation, checking screws and connections for firmness, and occasional lubrication for components, keeping the fan running smoothly and quietly over time.

The number of blades for your fan poses both advantages and disadvantages. Typically, the more blades on a fan, the better the air distribution and cooling effect, but this also means that your fan will have more wear on its motor. For small rooms, three-blade fans should work fine. For larger areas like living rooms, four or five-blade fans might be the better option.

Ceiling fans offer multiple benefits for your home. They improve air circulation to prevent stagnant environments and provide cost-effective temperature control, which can reduce reliance on your HVAC system and help lower utility bills. In addition to their functional advantages, ceiling fans can also enhance a room's aesthetic appeal with features like built-in lighting and modern styling.

If the fan doesn’t have a switch, connect the white wire from the ceiling to the white wire from the fan; connect the green wire to the ground wire; connect both black wires; and connect both blue wires. If yours has a switch, the white and green wires are connected the same way. However, connect the ceiling’s red wire to the light’s black wire and the ceiling’s black wire to the fan’s black wire.

If your home already has wires for a ceiling fan (and optional light kit), then it’s quite safe to wire and install it yourself. Always be very careful to shut off the power before you begin, and confirm that the power is safely off with a non-contact voltage tester before touching anything. It’s also highly recommended to use eye protection, rubberized gloves, and tools with rubber handles to keep yourself safe from electric shock.
