"If I could just rate some of the service technicians I would rate them higher and would recommend that they find a new ethical company to work for! We purchased our unit seven years ago. We had gotten a quote several months prior to purchasing our unit and when we purchased there was a sale that was $500 cheaper then the quote. They had us sign the quote sheet acknowledging installation which had ten year parts and one year labor warranty which we did not pay attention to since it was an old quote. However, the invoice we received had the correct amount that I paid and listed 10 year parts and labor warranty which now they don't want to honor. An attorney I consulted said the invoice would stand up in small claims court which I am now considering. It's just ashamed people don't have ethical business practices. I would encourage anyone looking for a new unit or service for existing systems to look elsewhere!!!!!"

Yes, natural gas generators can work without electricity. Natural gas generators are a common type of backup or whole-house generator that operates when the electrical grid isn’t working. Unfortunately, home square footage isn’t always a good indicator of generator size requirements. A 10,000-watt generator can run a small to mid-sized central AC unit (typically up to 3 tons or 36,000 BTU) along with a few other appliances. However, larger AC units or additional loads will require a bigger generator. Consult a local generator installer to ensure you add the correct size generator to your home.

As a safety measure, you should always turn off the main breaker while operating your generator’s backup breaker. In addition, you should also switch off all appliance breakers so you don't have a power surge when the main breaker turns back on. And finally, turning off the main breaker prevents back-feeding, which endangers utility workers with the risk of electrocution. Back-feeding could also destroy the electrical circuits of your neighbors if they use the same power network.

When choosing the right size generator for your needs, consider a few items to help calculate the wattage you’ll need. Start by determining which household items and appliances you want to power, and then add the wattages together. Check out the wattage of these essential appliances:
