"There were some windows that were not clean. They were happy to come back later at a later date. Before that I interviewed a replacement window company. They pointed out some problems with the 14 year old builder grade windows. There was moisture that escapes from these windows and causes cloudiness. The Spotless employee (Jacob Altieri) said the exact same thing the window replacement said. They really did a great job but the windows are compromised by the lack of quality."

"We recently had all our windows replaced with Renewable by Anderson and love them! We highly recommend working with Chris Taylor. He offered solutions that brought the project within our budget, while still checking-off all the boxes we had requested. The windows that Chris helped us to select, have undoubtedly raised the value of our property by maximizing our views, improving efficiency, and enhancing the design and asthetics of the home. The window installation crew did a fantastic job as well. The hard working crew replaced 22 windows in 2 days! They were very respectful of our home by using drop cloths on flooring, covering nearby furniture, and periodically stopping to vacuum dust and sweep."

"I contracted Virginia Exterior Products to re-side, install new windows, and install new porch columns and railings. Their price was very fair especially considering the scope of the project. It was a big project but they got it done in a week. The quality of the job was fantastic and working with George and his guys made the process that much easier. I would highly recommend Virginia Exterior Products to anyone looking do work on their home."

Small jobs welcome

"This business is professionally-run. Anthony quoted me for staining some picket fencing and gates around my backyard. He described how he would do it: spray the stain; back-roll with and small roller (to get more of the stain into the wood fibers); and, use a small brush for working around the hardware and in hard-to-reach places. (His quote was less than another I had received for another company planning to only spray the stain onto the wood.) He and Ronnie showed up on time and worked steadily to complete the job. My weathered fencing and gates looked great when they finished! They also painted some second-story shutters on the front of my house, which also was done well. They thoroughly cleaned up after finishing. Their work was excellent and I'm VERY SATISFIED. I'd highly recommend this company to anyone needing paint or stain work."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Clean with non-abrasive cleaners and a soft cloth, avoiding ammonia-based products that can degrade the film.

Egress windows require regular maintenance to ensure they function correctly. This includes cleaning the glass, inspecting the frame and well for debris, and making sure the cover or well drains properly. It is also important to check that the window sills and wells are watertight and to inspect and repair any damage to the window frame or seals to prevent leaks and maintain functionality.

Yes, you can enlarge windows in a brick house. Your masonry contractor will need to cut away exterior brick to make space for the larger window, and you may also need to consult a structural engineer to make sure the window is properly supported inside the frame of the house.

Yes, professional window cleaning is worth the investment. Regular deep cleanings help keep your windows looking new, extend their lifespan, and boost your home's curb appeal. By removing dirt, dust, and other debris, you can reduce the risk of damage and accelerated wear to window frames and components. It also improves your home’s energy efficiency by keeping insulation and weatherstripping in good working order, potentially lowering your energy bills. Furthermore, annual or bi-annual cleanings can help identify problems like leaks or cracks early, before they escalate into expensive water damage. You can often recuperate the cost of cleaning through energy savings and by avoiding premature window replacement.

Making a window in a basement larger costs an average of $4,200. You’ll need to pay an average of $550 to have a structural engineer plan the project, $500 to $1,500 for the installation labor, and an average of $2,200 for the excavation and window well installation. The remainder will go toward pulling permits, installing trim, and repairing drywall on the interior.
