"I initially had reservations about the concept of installing solar panels, but I was keen on getting an estimate and seeking professional advice. That's when I met Arvin. He provided me with a comprehensive walkthrough, clearly outlining the advantages of having solar panels. The entire process was straightforward, with each step being well-explained, leaving no room for surprises or unexpected outcomes. Now, a little over 5 months since the installation, I'm enjoying the benefits just as he promised. I want to extend my gratitude to Arvin for his professionalism and responsiveness. He was always there to address any questions I had, both during and after the installation process. Thank you, Arvin!"

"We had been meaning to remodel our master bathroom for awhile as the shower was very small and we had piping issues for our older house originally built in the 1970's.  Valari, the owner of Vostock Contractors, was recommended to us by my brother who had hired him to do minor contracting work around his house, including roof and ceiling repairs and minor wall fixes.  Valari came over and looked at the old bathroom and gave general ideas of what was possible for a complete remodel.  Valari is not an internal design consultant, so we ended up coming up with the bathroom concept ourselves and made all the decisions around fixures, tiles and layout ourselves.  He, however, was a good sounding board for us to bounce our ideas off of to consider different concepts.  Valari even provided recommendation for tile shops to help us in choosing our tiles, which we were very pleased with.  He also gave us clear estimates of how much material would be needed and what type of material would be needed (as we really had no clue).

Once all of our basic design decisions were made he gave what we felt was a very reasonable estimate for the job and we agreed to a timeframe to do the work in.  We purchased almost all the materials for the remodeling ourselves, but Vostock Contractors picked up all the materials ordered from the businesses.  The work for the bathroom remodel was handled almost entirely by the workmen hired by Vostock Contractors who were very considerate around making sure that they spent time to clean up every day.  The only real minor complaint I would have of this experience was when it came to trying to get the workmen to come on the weekends to finish the work within the timeframe originally agreed upon, they would promise to come, but then would show up significantly later than the agreed upon time, or not show up at all.  This only happened on weekend days and normal weekday work was done at agreed upon time.

Valari came to inspect the work on almost every day.  He also made sure that any improper work done was redone by the workmen, which did occur once with the toilet installation which was originally leaking a bit after the initial installation.  If any materials were needed for the next day's work Valari made sure that we had all the information that we needed to go and purchase the materials.

Overall, we were very satisfied with the work done on our remodeled bathroom and the professionalism of the work done by Vostock Contractors.  We have subsequently used him to do some minor electrical work (install chandelier, recess lighting and outdoor lighting) and were again quite pleased with the work done by Vostock Contractors at a reasonable price.  This follow-up work was done personally by Valari himself and without issue.  We highly recommend Vostock Contractors."

"Excellent company! My water heater stopped working on New Years Eve. Unfortunately, the water heater is behind my HVAC, so they had to remove the HVAC, remove the old water heater, install the new heater, and replace the HVAC. They did a perfect job. They also replaced the freon in my HVAC, because the prior repairmen didn’t add freon. In addition, they fixed the jets in my spa. The team arrived on time, displayed professionalism, and cleaned up afterwards. I would definitely hire them again."

"It was great! Mike, the tech, came out because my basement was flooding from the sump pump failing. He told me it was typical because it was over 20 years old. He replaced it on scene and gave me a free house inspection. He informed me that my water heater was close to failing as well. He offered to bundle the two jobs together to get me a better price. He even stuck around to let me check online to see if his prices were competitive. He also gave me a 10% discount. He got me on the schedule right then and there to get the water heater replaced. He showed up on time at 8 am, the next day, to swap it out. He protected my hardwood floor by putting down drop clothes and just really went above and beyond. He was wonderful and I can't thank him enough! I would recommend him to anyone that would ask me for plumbing services!"

"The salesman is easy to talk to and very helpful when making the decisions on color and grade of shingles. My husband and I were impressed with how efficiently and carefully they worked on the roof. The laborers did a great job on the roof and were careful to not leave any pieces of shingles or anything else in our yard because we have dogs that chew everything. Overall we are happy with the work they did."

"Richard Harry performed the biannual maintenance for our HVAC system. He is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and personable. As a new homeowner, I appreciated his attention to detail which pointed out several serious deficiencies missed on our home inspection. He found a rusted furnace flue, a hazard that could cause carbon monoxide poisoning, and “organic growth” in the humidifier. Additionally, he noted the buildup in our ducts that was blowing dirty air in our home. We had the duct cleaning already scheduled so we planned for his return after. After the duct cleaning, he returned and spent nearly three hours taking care of our system. In addition to the biannual maintenance, he thoroughly cleaned the humidifier, and added air scrubbers. He also commented positively on the companies that performed the recommended work. I will definitely use their services again and ask for him."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts
  • Installing a new electrical meter box

  • Replacing your meter base

  • Replacing your service entrance cable

The cost to install or upgrade an electrical meter box ranges from $100 to $650, including $50 to $250 for the unit. The meter base passes the power from your electric company to your panel. The cost to replace a meter base is roughly $50 to $250.

Service entrance cables are electrical cables with multiple wires, bringing power from electrical companies to residential buildings. The cost to replace a service entrance cable ranges roughly from $1,000 to $1,500.

In most states, solar installers need to be licensed and insured as solar professionals, although some states don’t have specific requirements for installers. You can use our state licensing tool to check if an installer you’re considering hiring holds the proper licensing. No matter where you live, a member of your solar panel installation company must be a certified electrician to connect your panels to your home and the electric grid.

If you’re deciding between a solar battery versus a generator for the best backup power solution, you can take a few factors into consideration. Solar batteries are quiet while generators can be quite loud. Generators have a lower up-front cost, but they require fuel and ongoing maintenance while solar batteries are more expensive but don’t have many ongoing costs.

While you can minimally overshoot the number of solar panels you need for your home, it's not smart to go too far. Not only is the extra cost unnecessary, but your state may put caps on how much energy your home can produce and send back to the grid. It is always best to work with a solar energy professional to determine the best system size for you.

The actual time it takes to construct the solar farm is relatively short, taking between 2 and 4 months on average. That timeline is dependent on site conditions, crew size, and the overall size of the solar farm.

However, the time it takes to get the ball rolling is significantly longer, ranging from 3 to 5 years. With a project of this scale, you’ll need to obtain all of the proper permits and approvals to start breaking ground, and depending on your location, that could be an extended process.
