Small jobs welcome

"Moon's Audio and Video did a great job. They arrived on time, mounted a tv on my bedroom wall with my purchased equipment and did the job exactly right. They were courteous and friendly and helpful. In fact, they made sure I knew that I should keep the old stand and its hardware in case I want to make use of it or sell it to someone who might need it. I appreciated their help very much."

"I called several other companies and they were wishy washy and couldn't send anyone for another two weeks. I called Virginia Power Solutions and explained my needs and they sent someone the next day. Everyone was great starting with the receptionist, the coordinator and my service man. I am glad that I found these guys. Thanks for a great job!"

"They came out on time as scheduled and worked throughout the day. After the work was complete, they made sure I had no questions and worked with me to find the best day for the county to inspect the work. Everything has been working well since the installation of my new electrical panel. They were great to work with."

"WB Lightning Rods did an excellent job installing lightening rods on our home. The owner stayed onsite the entire time to supervise the work. He took extra care to plan the rod and cable placement to ensure the proper protection and retain the aesthetics of our home. His crew were knowledgeable, polite, neat and efficient. We could not be more pleased with the results."

"Ok so this is an update on my review below.  I finally heard from Lupe...He did apologize and said he had to go out of town urgently which is why he did not respond to my inquiries...I still wish he would have at least left me a message...he did provide me an estimate for work which was very reasonable and in line with other estimates we have received...a little hesitant to use him given the issues with communication...but he did get back to me eventually and provided a competitive estimate for the work.

Previous review:
Seems like I have had similar experience to others. Contacted Lupe via Angie'slist and he responded right away and set up and appt and came on time and seemed very attentive to my questions and he offered some opinions to the project.  But then I never heard back from  him.  He said it would take a week to work up a proposal and he would be in touch.  10 days later I had not heard back and I sent him a message via Angie's list as I had done before and again left my contact info and several days later still no response, I called and left message and no response and 3-4 days later left another message on Angie'slist and no response.  Not sure what's going on but has been almost a month since initial contact and silence on the other end so had to move forward with another contractor.

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Upgrading your amp service could possibly be a solution to tripped breakers. Circuit breakers in an electrical panel trip as a safety measure when something goes wrong with the current, and that’s often caused by plugged-in devices trying to draw too much current. Replacing the electrical panel with a new model and new breakers designed for higher amps can fix this problem.

Yes, you can get shocked while using a multimeter if:

  • You touch the metal tip while testing a live current.

  • The meter isn’t properly rated for the voltage.

  • The meter picks up on transient voltage that’s above the range you’ve set.

  • The meter has defective parts.

You can prevent shock and personal injury by using a multimeter properly and maintaining your device.

If you’re unsure how to use a multimeter or want help with your project, contact a local electrician to get the job done.

You can add an electrical outlet outside by sending a wire through the wall from an existing interior outlet. Without having to open up walls, you can thread a new electrical cable from the existing outlet through the wall and to the exterior. You’ll need to cut a hole in the siding to place your new outlet. Ensure that your outdoor outlet is a GFCI outlet (ground fault circuit interrupter outlet) per the National Electrical Code. It’s best to hire an electrician to add an outdoor outlet unless you have previous electrical experience.

Many homes have a 200-amp service, which requires a 2-inch electrical meter riser. Larger homes or homes that require more energy for several appliances and devices may have a 400-amp service. For 400-amp service, opt for a 4-inch electrical meter riser.

Choosing between 12- or 14-gauge wire for your house depends on the electrical requirements of the circuit. A 12-gauge wire is thicker and can handle more power, making it better suited for devices such as kitchen appliances, air conditioning units, or electric heaters.

A 14-gauge wire is thinner and can handle less electrical current than a 12-gauge wire. It's ideal for circuits with lower power requirements, such as lighting or general-purpose outlets in bedrooms or living rooms.
