"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"I never contacted the provider or used this service in anyway. I have to
write this review so that the request to write this review stops
popping up.
The rating is bogus as it is required to be able to submit.

"I found A/C Home Improvements through Angie's list and my wife and I are glad we did! Tony and Terry was very professional and what impresses me the most is they stick by their word. Their work shows experience and will stand up with any contractors. They installed the floor, backsplash, a new microwave and under cabinet lighting as well as a ceiling light. We also re-faced our oak cabinets and it was sub-contracted out by Poff's Cabinetry in Martinsville VA and I highly recommend them as well!! We saved over half refacing the cabinets and they look brand new. Amazing work by both and will use them in the future for any kind of job we have!!"

"Excellent, careful worker. He works slowly but it is done right. There was a slight problem with the installation of the shower door and when notified of the leak, promptly repaired it.

"Both projects were completed just as expected and on time. They provided excellent recommendations on project materials and their workmanship was of the highest quality. The bath/bedroom remodeling was completed last summer (cost of that project is shown below). Since completion, we have had no problem issues that required follow up with the contractor - not with plumbing, electrical, basic construction, or finish work with floors, fixtures, or cabinets. We are expecting to work with this contractor again in the next year or so on a deck rebuilding and replacement of two sliding glass doors leading to our deck. We have very high confidence in this company's overall quality of work, integrity and dependability."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Carpenters are trained to take on a wide range of home projects. You can hire a carpenter to do framing, roofing, build custom furniture, and make significant upgrades to your home. General carpenters are usually able to handle most jobs. However, you may also choose to hire a carpenter who specializes in a specific type of carpentry.

Floor joists provide support and stability to the flooring installed above them, whether it be hardwood, tile, or carpet. They’re essentially horizontal beams that hold up the subfloor and everything that lies on top of it. Floor joists also help evenly distribute weight across their structure so that it’s shared between walls, beams, and your foundation.

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.

A contract should outline the scope of work, timelines, costs, payment schedule, and materials used for clarity and protection.
