Both projects were completed just as expected and on time. They provided excellent recommendations on project materials and their workmanship was of the highest quality. The bath/bedroom remodeling was completed last summer (cost of that project is shown below). Since completion, we have had no problem issues that required follow up with the contractor - not with plumbing, electrical, basic construction, or finish work with floors, fixtures, or cabinets. We are expecting to work with this contractor again in the next year or so on a deck rebuilding and replacement of two sliding glass doors leading to our deck. We have very high confidence in this company's overall quality of work, integrity and dependability.

Great at first. Very nice crew however when the new stair treads were installed each one was installed with 9ea screws, not drilled, no adhesive caused a mess. I contacted Cali Bamboo and advised that screws were not part of their installation guide lines. Funny as the first tread went down I said to Jack , owner of the construction co., stop you need to use a finishing nail . Jack stated “ no this is the way to to it my nail gun won’t go through this bambo. The result was awful and looked awful. I contacted Lowe’s abs the supervisor told me he would not accept the install either. He even told me Jack was the Cali bamboo rep. For area!!! Well Jack has refused to come back to finish the job. Lowe’s called and said to come pick up materials to replace stair treads and that I would have to install them myself. This all leads me to a conclusion that Lowe’s uses contractors that can’t make it on their own and Lowe’s does NOT back up their name or reputation at all. After calling the county building inspector, due to the supervisor stating that Jack had spoken to them and metal fasteners were required, the inspector told me this was not true . Hence both Jack and Lowe’s rep lied to me. The building inspector also said that a project like mine needed building permits for inspections. No permits were done. When I told the Lowe’s rep I had contacted the building inspector and paid for the permits and all work would stop until inspector was her to review. The next day I received a call that no more work would be done and Lowe’s would give the materials to replace the treads. This was done while there is still tile back splash to install , fix some electrical outlets, a cabinet drawer face has to be replaced, and all others repairs. Be careful although very nice Jack seems to have a Napoleon syndrome due to his size. Ie: this is the way to do it!!!! I own the company!! Some of his staff told me they had never seen screws used in that fashion to install stair treads. Just be careful that you are are well aware of what you are going to get and if mistakes are made you are covered also insist on a building permits so an expert will look at the work and back you up if it is needed.

I actually used Lowe's in Christiansburg for some remodeling and home work and it was this company who did the actual construction. No complaints all around, both Lowe's and ACM were very nice, professional and timely. The work was completed yesterday and the house looks just like it did before the workers got there. I had a LOT of painting and remodeling done by a previous company who really trashed the house, floors and kitchen countertops so this was a very nice change. The work that ACM did looks great and everything is working just fine.

All aspects of the work, from initial evaluation, planning, pricing, timely completion and craftsmanship were outstanding. I have worked with residential contractors on many projects over the last 30+ years, including construction of a new home. Never have I had such a favorable experience, as with this contractor. He saw to it that there were no deviations from the design plan and schedule. Crews came early and worked late, even coming in weekends, if needed to stay on schedule. In all aspects, the commitment to quality of the work and finish was the main concern. While the work was underway and unforeseen issues or modification possibilities for improving the end result came up, the contractor was there, personally, to give us suggestions and choices. In fact, the contractor was on-site 90% of the time, supervising his crew. The result was efficient progress and precision in the work. I expect to do other home updates in the future and hope to work with this company again. I give the highest possible recommendation to Appalachian Construction and Maintenance for anyone planning to do residential remodeling and construction projects; their service coverage area includes the New River Valley, Roanoke Valley, and other parts of SW Virginia. In presenting this review, I assure readers that I have received no special consideration, financial or otherwise, from Appalachian Construction and Maintenance LLC, nor do I have any personal or family relationship with the company or any of its employees. The approximate cost, show below, includes both the kitchen remodel in 2016 plus the bathroom, powder room, study, and bedroom remodeling in 2017.
