"Working with usa marble & granite was a breeze. I came in looking to replace my 17 year old kitchen countertops with a specific budget in mind & had a very limited budget. Without any hesitation Frank at the showroom showed me all the available options for my budget including their wide variety of remnant selection as well. After my order, within a week the old countertops were removed and the new ones were installed. I am very satisfied in every aspect from their lovely people, speed, and quality of workmanship. I would recommend them to anyone looking to replace their countertops."

"Had a great experience with Merrifield Granite who provided outstanding customer service. The measurements Anga took were very precise and the marble countertops fit perfectly. From selection to install absolutely great job. They gave a much better price also. Highly recommended."

"The price was unbeatable. The one minor issue is that the caulking behind the backsplash was done quite sloppily. There was no follow up from the company at all after the project was complete. But, we were able to get on the schedule quickly, and the work was done on time. Except for the caulking, the countertops look great."

"We purchased two deals for tile floors @ $750 each. Jose did two bathrooms for us and we were delighted with the results. He and his team were professional, punctual and polite. They were very careful to minimize dust and debris as they moved materials through the house. The job started and finished exactly on time. We will contact him again when we replace our kitchen floor.

"I have JCP do several projects for me and they all turned out well. A remodeling to add some closet space, painting and repair the doorframe of my deck. They do a great job - all work was completed on schedule for the agreed-upon amount and I was very happy with the finished work."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can remove a countertop without breaking it. It is possible to save your countertop to use in your new kitchen, donate it, or sell it! You’ll just need to work carefully as you follow the removal steps above. If you’re not sure you can get the job done without causing a little damage, call in a pro for peace of mind.

Recycled glass countertops are slightly cheaper than quartz countertops, though it depends on several factors. Recycled glass countertops cost between $65 and $140 per square foot, and quartz countertops cost $50 to $200 per square foot, though most projects come in at $70 to $100 per square foot. The final cost will come down to the quality of the material, local labor prices, and any customizations you require.

One of the best ways to use bar-height countertops is as a divider. If you have an open concept home, this can visually separate your kitchen from your living space. This countertop is also ideal for entertaining. You can cook in your kitchen, while your guests can sit at the island and be at a similar level.

Budget-friendly alternatives to granite include quartz, laminate, or solid surface materials. Quartz naturally mimics the look of granite, or homeowners can choose a laminate designed to resemble the natural stone for a much lower cost.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.
