"This a complex situation where the toilet was grouted to the floor of the bathroom and we didn't know what to do. We got on Angi's list and came and gave us an estimate and the plumber had to go to his shop to get a special tool to disconnect the toilet from the floor . All fixed the same day."

"Mike was efficient and prompt. His work ethics were professional and knowledgeable. Mike installed a gas line and a gas stove for us. When I got home I told my husband that it smelt like gas so I called the company and asked if they could send someone out. Within 10 minutes literally mike arrived...never made me feel as if I was bothering... rechecked the lines and show me how to use my new stove. Mike ensured it was leveled and before leaving as me if I had any questions...this is definitely a company we will continue to use and recommend. Thank you Mike for all your assistance and knowledge. We do appreciate you and the company you work for."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes—your local septic company can clean your septic leach lines with a sewer jetter, a device that pumps high-pressure water through the lines to blast out any clogs and scum buildup. Unless there’s a clog or blockage in the lines, however, you do not need to perform this maintenance regularly. Do not attempt to clean your own leach lines, as you could easily damage them, leading to very costly repairs.

Chemical drain cleaners can work to clear clogs in pipes, but their use should be approached with caution. These harsh chemicals can damage pipes over time, and they can also harm the environment. Use them sparingly and consider alternative methods such as using a plunger or a drain snake. If you have concerns about a persistent clog, it's best to consult a professional who can safely and effectively address the issue without causing further damage to your plumbing system.

Simple blockages can be cleared using household plungers or manual snakes, provided no severe plumbing issues exist.

Yes, hiring a drain cleaner is worth it, especially when compared to the cost of not being able to use a sink, shower, toilet, or bathtub and the potential damage that flooding can cause in your home. You might try a temporary drain cleaning liquid or snaking it yourself, but if the clog is out of reach or these methods do not work, then hiring a professional drain cleaner is the way to go.

In some cases, operating a snake can damage your drain and pipes. This depends on the overall condition of your pipes and how gently you operate the auger. For instance, older galvanized pipes covered in zinc are susceptible to scratches when using a drain snake. Additionally, it’s common for newbies to apply too much force when extending the snake, leading to scratches and related damage. You can also crack the porcelain with an electric auger if you’re snaking a toilet drain. If you’re using a manual snake or auger, the risk is minimal.
