"We had an excellent experience building our home with Timberline Property Management and Construction. From the initial planning stages through completion, their team was professional, transparent, and highly responsive. Communication was clear and consistent, and they took the time to explain options, timelines, and costs so there were no surprises along the way. The quality of craftsmanship truly stands out. Timberline paid close attention to detail and delivered a home that met—and in many cases exceeded—our expectations. Any questions or minor issues that came up were addressed promptly and handled with care. Building a home can be stressful, but Timberline made the process smooth and well-organized. We felt confident that our project was in good hands from start to finish. "I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

Small jobs welcome

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Luke did an outstanding job repairing our vinyl flooring. We had to use replacement flooring that was the closest match we could find, even though it was a slightly different size. His craftsmanship was incredible—you’d never know there had ever been a damaged section in the middle of the room. He was honest, extremely responsive, and very easy to work with throughout the entire process. His attention to detail and quality of work exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Luke to anyone needing vinyl flooring repairs!"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

In the U.S., original and converted carriage houses are most often found in New England, New York, and other parts of the Northeast. New construction carriage houses can be found across the country, and are often added to properties with Colonial-style homes for additional living, storage, or work space, although they can be found in many different styles.

Any type of construction that damages a tree’s roots via soil compaction can be dangerous, and is one of the primary causes of mature tree death in residential areas. Simply putting lots of weight on the ground around the tree, like construction supplies, trailers, and equipment, can kill roots near the surface. Of course, installing new foundations, patios, or utility lines can cut through nearby tree roots. Accidentally striking a tree with equipment or supplies is rarely a problem, but can cause damage of its own, too.

It is recommended that you check with your local building official on barn building requirements and rules, since size restrictions vary greatly from region to region based on what your property is zoned for. Some cities limit barn construction depending on if your property is residential or commercial. The three main factors your building commission will evaluate are:

  • Height and lot coverage: How tall your barn is and how much of your total property it occupies

  • Setback: Distance between barn and property line

  • Easement: Legal right for another owner to access another’s property

It is almost always more affordable to buy an existing home than to build a new one. Building a home involves numerous costs, including labor, permits, inspections, utility hookups, and brand-new materials, finishes, and appliances. Additionally, new construction loans can have higher interest rates than traditional mortgages, and property taxes on new homes are often higher, increasing long-term costs. An exception is a DIY house build, which can be cheaper than buying an existing home if you do the labor yourself. While building is generally more expensive, a new custom home offers complete control over the layout and design. Furthermore, new construction is typically worth more than a comparable pre-owned home and may provide a better return on investment if sold quickly.

The timeline to build your barn will depend on the barn type and the company you hire. A pole barn may take six weeks or so, while a traditionally framed or steel-framed barn can take four months or longer. Building a barndominium takes the longest because you are essentially building a new home. You can expect barndominiums to take six months or longer to build.
