"Noel is hard-working, diligent, and honest. He and his crew did great work tearing down and building a brick wall. He was also responsive before and during the entire project. I would highly recommend him and his company for any project."

"This place is amazing. Above and beyond all expectations. The job was done with precision and quality, along with 1 week ahead of schedule. They even returned on a national holiday to finish up. The price was great too! It was at the low end of what I thought was possible, and that included stronger concrete and reinforcements than I planned. Very happy to work with these people. Will definitely be my first choice for any future concrete projects. AAA+"

"Jay Concrete and Construction was amazing. I have worked with a lot of contractors and Jay Concrete was at the next level of professionalism and skill. The job they did was professional. They answered my questions, showed up on time and kept to a budget. The amount I paid was very reasonable. They cleaned up after themselves each of the three days they were at my place. Their employees were kind and respectful and hardworking. I have recommended them to several friends. I searched for a good concrete company but finally went with Jay Concrete because of a referral from a friend. His experience mirrored mine so I know that they have a great service oriented culture. I would hire them again. Then finished result is amazing. They are now doing work for my neighbors. Thank you Sione."

"I highly recommend Concrete Transformation LLC. They repaired and coated my garage floor last month and did an exceptional job. I also hired them to coat my 2 driveways and they did a very thorough job of prepping and coating these. I will be hiring them to coat my patio concrete this Spring."

Concrete Mudjacking questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, push piers—or steel piers—are the best option for underpinning, as they reach down to solid bedrock to find support for your foundation rather than relying on soil, which could be subject to the same issues as the soil directly below your foundation. However, the best underpinning method for your home depends on your location, how far down the bedrock is, and the type of soil in your area. Helical piers are usually the best option for sandy soil or in areas where the bedrock is too deep to use steel piers.

Common issues with concrete that may require professional repair or resurfacing include cracks, spalling, uneven surfaces, and weather damage.

Polyjacking and mudjacking can both be effective solutions for sinking concrete, but they have key differences. Polyjacking, which uses expanding polyurethane foam, is often considered a better option because the foam is significantly lighter than the cementitious material used for mudjacking. This reduced weight puts less pressure on the underlying soil and lowers the risk of future sinking. Polyjacking is suitable for any sinking concrete slab, while mudjacking is typically only recommended for non-structural concrete, such as sidewalks, patios, pool decks, and driveways. The primary drawback of polyjacking is its cost, which can be up to four times higher than mudjacking—as much as $25 per square foot compared to a maximum of about $6 per square foot for mudjacking.

On average, a mudjacking repair lasts between five and 10 years, though it can sometimes last for well beyond a decade under ideal conditions. Its longevity depends heavily on several factors, including the condition of the underlying soil, environmental conditions like freeze/thaw cycles and erosion, and whether the root cause of the sinking, such as drainage issues, is resolved. Because it doesn't always fix the underlying problem of loose soil, mudjacking is often considered a temporary solution. Proper maintenance and evaluation can help extend its lifespan.

There is no real alternative to underpinning, although mudjacking and polyjacking are other repair methods that can add support from underneath your foundation. Rather than placing supportive piers under your structure, these involve pumping a material under your slab to lift a sunken section back into its original position. Polyjacking, in particular, is sometimes a suitable solution for stabilization issues under slab foundations, but underpinning is often accepted as the best and most permanent solution.
