"I received phone call minutes after my request for a service . They set up appointment for the next day ! Logan arrived , cleaned my gas fireplace beautifully. He informed me of issues that might arise in the future and how they might be remedied. For now he just needed to clean the parts which is why it wasnâ t working correctly. He was knowledgeable and explained everything so well . I highly recommend , and price was very fair , too"

"I had an appointment with another company that I used in the past, but they couldn't make it until Thursday, this is the hottest week of the year so far and I couldn't wait so I looked for someone else and picked Larkin.  I called and they told me they would have someone out that afternoon.  Jesse came out and had me chillin in just a few hours.  They were there quick and got the job done to keep the whole house from frying in this heat.

"The work was as expected. They had to work a different job in the morning unexpectantly and we received a phone call that they were late. They forgot to cover he downstairs fireplace and let a lot of debris down the chimney. It was vacuumed but there was still some remnants and a lot of dust. Some of the paint on the hearth was left chipped. I have called and am waiting for a call about the chips.

"We have Frontpoint at two houses. We had been looking for ways to cut our monthly expenses (Frontpoint is approx. $100 per month total), so I called them to find out what I could do. They informed me that I was under contract for another year, and that I cannot get out of the contract without an early termination fee that is equal to the cost of the service. I'm a little disappointed, because the upfront cost of the system was very expensive ($1,000+) for each house, so it seems odd that I would get sucked into this contract. Nevertheless, I forgot that I signed up for this with them. My calendar is marked for the day that my service ends, and I will be switching to a company that charges about half of what they do. They have OK customer service and are very responsive, but the wireless system had some issues with reception in my house due to a fireplace, and then they didn't want to work with me to get that resolved. They're OK, but I can't really recommend them."

"Really well, we liked him. The guy that came out did fine, he didn't finish a wall where he punched a hole in, he says were gonna have a dry wall. He didn't come out and do that but that was kind of a last minute thing we added for him to go ahead and repair a small heater but other than that, were really pleased with it. We were not up there and its a rental house and they were pleased. He was able to finish before the holidays, before Christmas. I was really pleased with him. They plumbed the gas line into the kitchen under the house. We were very pleased with him, he was in and out and we were able to work with him on time schedule that would fit both of them. I don't know what else to say other than we were pleased with him and happy with what was done. I just really liked them because he was courageous, helpful on the phone, knew hi stuff, was able to the desire to get this done before the holidays. He was able to work with our renters without being there and he was efficient. His communication with us telling us before hand, during and after was very good, very helpful and he explained things well."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

Depending on who’s doing the estimating, about 22,000 to 25,000 chimney fires happen each year in the United States. Given the fact that millions of Americans have fireplaces (and chimneys), that means chimney fires aren’t exactly common—but they’re not rare, either. Since they’re so dangerous, it’s important to take precautions to prevent them.

Wood stove fans are designed to operate quietly, emitting only a subtle hum from their motor. This low noise level ensures minimal disruption in your living space, allowing you to enjoy the warmth without distraction. The fan blades, which are engineered for efficient air circulation, contribute to the overall quiet operation. This makes wood stove fans a practical choice for maintaining a peaceful environment while effectively distributing heat throughout your room or home.

You can, but you shouldn’t. While you can still start a fire in your fireplace, the smoke and other fumes won’t have a proper way to escape if the flue is cracked. By continuing to operate your fireplace, wood stove, or furnace, you are putting your home at risk of absorbing toxic byproducts of the fire source.

There are several maintenance tips you should take to ensure your pellet stove's safety and proper maintenance. You should vacuum the ash pan every week to prevent overflowing and clean the stove and surrounding vents every three to four months. It’s also important to get a professional inspection every year and install a carbon monoxide detector close to your stove. Be sure to dispose of hot ashes in a closed metal container; store it outside, away from the house. Only use the pellets recommended by your stove's manufacturer, and follow any cleaning and maintenance instructions.

You can close up a chimney instead of demolishing it. Homeowners often go this route because the cost of removing a chimney, especially a structurally important chimney, can be expensive.

Properly closing up a chimney involves closing and sealing the damper, installing a chimney cap damper, and sealing the fireplace opening with a door or bricks. The cost to seal and cap a chimney is around $500 to $650—significantly less than the average chimney removal cost.
